Rick Scott Calls on Biden to Resign for Medicare Lie
Florida Senator Rick Scott released a new ad Wednesday calling on President Joe Biden to resign. The ad was in rapid response to comments made by Biden during his Tuesday night State of the Union address, where he repeated false claims that republicans are trying to cut social security and Medicare spending.

“I’m Rick Scott. Biden should resign. I approve this message,” the senator says in the 30-second ad. Scott also accuses President Biden of cutting $280 billion from medicare and exploiting a loophole to cheat on his taxes.
.@JoeBiden once again lies about Republicans trying to cut Social Security and Medicare.

“Joe Biden just cut $280 billion from Medicare. And we know about his 80,000 new IRS agents. But what you don’t know is that Joe Biden also cheated on his taxes and got away with it,”
According to the Daily Caller, the reports Scott cites in his ad suggest that Biden and his wife created two shell companies to funnel their earnings through after leaving the White House in 2017. The move reportedly allowed the Bidens to avoid payroll taxes on their income from book deals and speeches. Those taxes would have included almost three percent in Medicare funding.
“Biden improperly used a loophole to dodge half a million dollars in taxes that should have gone to Medicare. Now that Biden has ripped off Medicare for half a million dollars, he wants to close the loophole and raise your taxes.”

The ad also referenced the Inflation Reduction Act, which allows Medicare to negotiate drug prices directly with the manufacturers. Scott argued that this would cost Medicare $280 billion. The ad was run and paid for by Rick Scott’s campaign.
“@JoeBiden is lying through his teeth. I don’t know a single Republican who wants to cut social security or Medicare,” Scott said on Twitter.

I don’t know a single Republican who wants to cut social security or Medicare. But you know who has proposed cutting both? Joe Biden. https://t.co/CsKMTB07xb pic.twitter.com/sMk35cGQK3

During Tuesday night’s State of the Union address, Joe Biden accused Republicans of wanting to gut social security and Medicare,
“Instead of making the wealthy pay their fair share, some Republicans – some Republicans want Medicare and social security to sunset,”
The comment was immediately met with backlash. The outraged Republican congressmen erupted in a wave of shouts and boos. Marjorie Taylor Greene called out to Biden, saying he was a “liar.” The president immediately walked back his comments,
“I’m not saying it’s a majority of you… but it’s being proposed by individuals. I’m not, politely, not naming them, but it’s being proposed by some of you.”
Biden appeared to attack a plan by Rick Scott that would require all federally funded programs to be reapproved by congress every five years. Scott has said, “If a law is worth keeping, Congress can pass it again.” Scott and his colleagues have stated they support funding medicare and social security.
On Wednesday, Scott pointed out that Biden had made a similar proposal in 1975.
.@JoeBiden said he would veto any bill that cuts Social Security and Medicare.
So why did he write a bill that would do just that?
He’s confused and should resign. pic.twitter.com/i2RQMar6R1

The bill, proposed by 32-year-old Senator Biden, would have required federally funded programs to require congressional reapproval every four-to-six years.
