Michigan Man Starves Fighting Dogs – Felony Warrant Issued

Michigan Man Casey Autry Kidd, 29, is wanted in connection with an alleged dog fighting ring after deputies found eight dogs chained in his yard and six others left to starve to death.

Three weeks ago, someone reported there were dogs chained up in the backyard of a residence, Sheriff Swanson said.

Kidd now has a felony arrest warrant in Genesee County, Michigan, for abandoning animals, Genesee County Sheriff Christopher Swanson said during a press conference.

“The eight dogs found alive were emaciated and virtually starved to death and are now walking around and doing well, “ “We believe that these dogs were used in a potential dog fighting ring,” Swanson said.

The sheriff said some dogs had multiple stages of scarring and injuries indicative of dog fighting.

The sheriff said the dogs were found chained, with one restrained so tightly that it could not move.

Rescued Dogs

Two of the dogs found alive had chips, and one of them, a Boston terrier named Stella, was reunited with its owner last week after being missing for three weeks.

According to Sgt. Jason White, with the sheriff’s office, the family was overwhelmed with joy. They were searching for their pet and contacted animal control daily.

The sheriff’s office shared a video of the second chipped dog’s reunion with her family Friday, following the sheriff’s press conference.

County officials are working hard to reunite all eight dogs with their owners.

Swanson said the dogs that were found dead were starved and rotting, and the alive dogs were eating the carcasses.

“This is not only inhumane, but it’s immoral, unethical,” he said. “Kidd, I’m talking to you. Casey Kidd, do the right thing. Answer for the actions. Let’s get this thing behind us and move on.”

Law Enforcement said that Kidd is a habitual offender with a “dangerous criminal history” and multiple arrests for home invasions, assaults, and drug charges.

“We’re not asking anybody to put themselves at risk,” Swanson said.

Authorities ask anyone with information about the Kidd’s whereabouts to call the sheriff’s office at 810-257-3422 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-422-JAIL.
