Florida Man Breaks into Vacation Rental, Takes Bath, a Nap, Makes Coffee
Florida man Zachary Murdock, 29, is in the Escambia County jail after he broke into a unoccupied vacation rental home, took a bath, then a nap, made coffee and got arrested.
According to the Escambia Sheriff’s office Facebook account and the arrest affidavit, Murdock broke the glass door on the porch of the unoccupied Florida vacation rental located in the 100 block of Avenida Ave, and went in. While thieves normally take things during a burglary, Murdock apparently made himself at home and took a nice relaxing bath, and then took a nap in the master bedroom before enjoying the view and a nice hot cup of coffee out on the back porch.
Apparently, Murdock forgot to clean up after himself and left his coffee mug behind on the back porch, leaving more evidence behind, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

Before leaving, Murdock filled up the trash can with an assortment of trash which included his bus ticket stub, which allowed deputies to identify the burglary suspect as Zachary Murdock.
Later that same day, the sheriff’s office said deputies responded to another incident in the 1600 block of Via De Luna Drive where a woman said a man wearing a dark colored shirt, dark colored pants and a ball cap walked up to her home and tried pulling on her sliding glass door. Deputies said the woman asked him what he was doing, and Murdock reportedly told the woman he was “looking for Tony” and left.
The Sheriff’s office located Murdock nearby and took him into custody, but deputies say they still don’t know who Tony is.
Zachary Murdock was transported to the Escambia County Jail where he was charged with residential burglary for breaking into the home and criminal mischief for damage to the property. He is currently being held on $20,500 bond.
