4 Florida Teens Arrested After $30,000 Vandalism Spree at Spruce Creek Elementary School

Florida Teenagers were arrested after they were caught on video breaking into Spruce Creek Elementary School in Port Orange and Vandalizing the school, causing over $30,000 in damage.

Two 14-year-olds, a 15-year-old, and a 16-year-old ransacked the school on Sunday morning at approximately 2:00 a.m. Video surveillance footage shows the teens outside the main building’s front entrance hiding their identities by wearing hoodies and masks, with one of the teens holding what appears to be a fire extinguisher.

Currently, it is still unknown what items are missing. Due to the extent of the damage, a full inventory has not been completed.

School officials believe the damage alone will amount to over $30,000.

The punks turned over desks, chairs, and tables, knocked over filing cabinets, and stole various items as they made the rounds of the school’s portable buildings.

Port Orange Police stated the suspects tried to gain entry into the main building by attempting to break out two windows at the front of the school using a fire extinguisher in an attempt to smash through the windows, but they were unsuccessful. The damage was limited to several portable buildings and two outer storage buildings.

Photos taken by the Port Orange Police Department show portable classrooms with overturned desks and cabinets, with paperwork strewn all over the floor. It looks like the four had a great time destroying the school.

The Port Orange police department shared surveillance video of the four suspects on social media Monday to get the public to help identify them, and their efforts seem to have paid off.

Tuesday night, the department announced that four teens — a 16-year-old, a 15-year-old, and two 14-year-olds — were arrested after an investigation determined that they were responsible for the burglary and destruction of the school.

Through extremely hard work by our Detectives and help from the public, The Port Orange Police Criminal Investigations Division was able to identify the subjects involved. All four juvenile male subjects have now been identified and arrested. They have been charged with trespassing upon school grounds, felony criminal mischief (vandalism) and burglary. The subjects are two 14-year-olds, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old.

Police say their estimate of how much the vandalism will cost could grow once an entire inventory of damaged and stolen items is complete.
