A video of a woman’s dating frustrations has gone viral on TikTok, with her complaining about how no liberal men are willing to do the more masculine and traditional things during a date, such as pay for the first date in total, and also said that she can’t find a manly man who isn’t conservative.
Tiktok user @ms_petch posted the video last week, which has received over 250,000 views.
In the video, she puts a caption at the top that says, ‘Realizations about dating in 2023 as a woman,’ to which she then starts speaking to the camera. She starts the video by describing what she’s about to say is ‘one of the saddest realizations’ she has ever had.
She then carries on by explaining that she wants “a man who wants to pay on the first date, who wants to open your door, who has that want and desire to take care of you and to provide” but can’t find one “who is not a conservative.”

While explaining her struggles, additional text appeared at the top of the screen, saying, ‘ All these men out here wanting to split the bill. ON THE FIRST DATE!!!! Whaaaaaaat.’
In the video, the Tiktok user clarified that she is a liberal woman; she wants her independence and “not be confined or conform to the traditional female homemaker, childbearing role.” She then adds that “most of the men I’ve dated who do have that more natural provider masculinity about them are normally conservative,” which is a big issue in her dating life.
In the top right section of her video, she adds a text bubble that says, “Am I asking too much here?!?! To somewhat be equal yet have a man provide and take care of me to some extent?”
She finishes the video by saying, “So I really don’t know what to do because I don’t wanna compromise my morals and values just to find a man, but am I asking to have my cake and eat it too?
The replies to the video were honest and expected, with many users pointing out her flaw in logic.
One user mockingly said, “I want traditional but don’t want to be traditional, also not conservative,” while another user commented, “All I heard is I want someone to take care of me, but I don’t want to take care of them.”
One user talked about video reactions to this video, saying, “Can’t wait to see the stitches and duets to this… TikTok, don’t fail me now.”

A user went as far as to mock her by saying, “Why can’t I find a man that holds himself to the standard of traditional values while not holding me to that same standard. Dating is hard. :(” and using quotation marks to pretend that was what she actually meant.
In videos posted to her account after her viral post, the liberal woman addressed her critics. In one, she claimed she wants a man with some “traditional values while also being very progressive in social issues.”
As of the writing of this article, It is unclear if she has found a man that has met her standards.
