Seven people were killed and ten injured when a motorist in a Range Rover left the road and plowed into a group of people sitting at a bus stop near Minnesota Road and North Bernal Road in front of the Ozanam Center, which is a shelter for migrants and homeless in Brownsville, Texas.
At around 8:30 a.m., a man in a Range Rover SUV ran a traffic signal and plowed into the group sitting at the bus stop. The crowd was primarily males from Venezuela, and according to ValleyCentral.com, The killings appear to be intentional. The driver has been described as a Hispanic male who lives in the area.

“It was sudden,” said Luis Herrera, a Venezuelan immigrant. “A woman drove by and told us to leave the area. We started to leave, and in a second, the driver came up and was pointing at us, cursing, calling us things like, ‘Motherf—–‘and other things I didn’t understand.”
“When he drove up, he stepped on the gas,” Herrera said, stopping to wipe tears from his face. “Full force. He passed over me.”
Brownsville Police Investigator Martin Sandoval said seven victims died at the scene, and another ten victims were taken to area hospitals.
“The injured parties have gone up to 10. There might be more possibly coming in because we have learned that several of the people that were injured have been transported to several hospitals throughout the valley. So those numbers will be rising.”
Sandoval said the driver was arrested on charges of reckless driving. He said more charges would likely be filed. He said area residents detained the driver until police arrived.
He said police had not identified the driver because he’s been very uncooperative and has given several different names, and they’re not sure who he is yet.
“Now, we don’t know the actual cause of the accident. As I said, it could be three different things. One, he could be intoxicated. Two, it could be just an accidental one or three, it could be intentional,” Sandoval said.
Brownsville Mayor Trey Mendez released a statement indicating that the crash was not accidental.

“As we continue to receive information on the tragic incident that occurred today, we have yet to receive evidence that this was an intentional act. Our police department continues with the investigation after apprehending the driver of the vehicle at the scene. The driver has thus far been uncooperative. It is expected that our police department will hold a press conference tomorrow morning,” Mendez said.
Brownsville Police arrested the driver for reckless driving. They brought him to the hospital to be checked for alcohol and drug use, according to ABC News.
He is also being held under 24-hour watch.

Sandoval said police would likely charge him with more crimes – especially if they find his act was intentional.
