‘No Excuses’: DeSantis Pledges to Beat Biden and ‘Destroy Leftism’

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis called his shot on Monday, promising that if he wins the GOP nomination, he will beat Biden with “no excuses.”

The Florida Governor made his statements during an episode of Fox and Friends on Monday morning. The hosts asked DeSantis the million-dollar question: “Why is right now the time for Ron DeSantis to run for president?”

DeSantis’s answer was simple because he is confident he will beat President Joe Biden if given the chance. “Everyone knows if I’m the nominee, I will beat Biden,” he said. “I will serve two terms, and I will be able to destroy leftism in this country and leave woke ideology on the dustbin of history,” swiping at Trump with his promise of winning a second term.

The promise to win is one of DeSantis’s main pitches to Republican voters. In his Twitter Spaces presidential run announcement, DeSantis solemnly promised victory. And in his ad teasing the announcement, he declared, “We need the courage to lead and the strength to win.”

DeSantis backed up his claims in his Fox Interview, citing his election record and the media’s reaction to his candidacy.

“I’ve shown in Florida an ability to win huge swaths of voters that Republicans typically can’t win while also delivering the boldest agenda anywhere in the country. And I think there’s a reason why the legacy media is attacking me more than they’re attacking anyone else because I think they realize that if I’m successful in winning the Republican nomination, we’re gonna bring it home in the general election.”

The Governor’s confidence extends past the general election. Similarly to the legacy media, DeSantis claimed on Good Morning NH that Trump’s focus on him as an opponent, even before he declared, shows he has a good shot at winning the primaries.

“I think a lot of what he’s doing is showing everybody that he understands that I’ve got a good chance to beat him because he doesn’t criticize anybody else. They wouldn’t do that if they didn’t think that I had a chance, because I think they realize I am offering folks a record of achievement that’s second to none, They know that I’m more likely to win the election.”

To finish his answer to the Fox and Friends Hosts, DeSantis reiterated another line of his campaign, “no excuses,” another dig at President Trump, who has blamed election interference in 2020 for Biden’s Presidency.

“I pledge to Republican votes, if you nominate me, I will be taking the oath of office on January 20th, 2025, on the West Side of the capital. No excuses, no more excuses about why we can’t get it done; we need to get it done, and I will get it done.”
