Judges Sauer on Nathan’s Contest Weenie Cheater

In what could be the biggest upset in the competitive, illustrious world of Major League Eating, competitive hot dog eater Nick Wehry has been accused of adding an additional empty plate to his pile of finished hot dogs to pad his final count for the July 4th Nathan’s contest. Wehry is the husband of women’s Nathan’s hot dog contest winner Miki Sudo. In the wurst upset for this contest since former champion Joey Chestnut shamefully became the spokesperson for a plant-based hot dog company and wasn’t allowed to compete for the 2024 mustard belt, Wehry has been accused of cheating to join the ‘elite’ class of competitive eaters which is for those who have records of eating 50 or more hot dogs. For judges and fans everywhere, a weenie-eating cheater doesn’t cut the mustard.

For many, watching Nathan’s July 4th hot dog eating contest has become an annual tradition. The contest entails eating as many hot dogs as possible in ten minutes. Five hot dogs and buns are on each plate, and when the contest is over, the judges add up the plates to do the final count for each contestant. If bits of bun or meat are left over, it’s up to the judges to decide what counts. Judges are now saying that Wehry’s original 46.75 hot dog count got bumped up to 51.75, and they’re saying it happened because he took an empty plate from the guy next to him and added it to his pile when he thought no one was looking. The winner of the 2024 contest was Pat Betroletti, who ate his way to a win with his new personal eating best of 58 hot dogs. Wehry’s final count didn’t bump him up to the top dog, so the question is, why the weenie move?

Joey Chestnut, the elite hot dog-eating champion of the world, wasn’t allowed to participate in Nathan’s hot dog eating contest on July 4th, 2024, because he signed a contract to represent a plant-based hot dog company. His absence has left room for others to shake their buns and show the world what they can do. Quite frankly, it’s time.

In the competitive hot dog-eating world, those who have eaten 50 hot dogs and over are considered to be in an elite, competitive class and regarded as top dogs. For comparison’s sake, Joey Chestnut’s best is 76 hot dogs. Wehry’s sly dog move bumped him up to this class, but there may be more to this story.

Wehry is married to women’s world-champion hot dog eater Miki Sudo. During the 2024 contest, Sudo won and broke her previous world record by eating an astonishing 51 hot dogs. Sudo has gotten a lot of attention over the years for her skills, and maybe Wehry, who no one knew, couldn’t take it anymore. His wife is famous, but no one knows who he is. His life seems to suck the big wiener. It doesn’t seem coincidental that Wehry’s win gave him a three-quarter hot dog win over Sudo. It’s possible that Wehry wanted to save his manhood by proving to his wife that he could wolf down more wieners than she could.

Miki Sudo won Nathan’s 2024 hot dog eating contest for the women’s division, winning by chowing down on an astonishing 51 hot dogs.

Judges are now deciding if Wehry’s original 46 counts should stand or if he should be disqualified altogether. Quite frankly, if the allegations are true, he should be disqualified. In the world of major league eating, it’s a dog-eat-dog world.
