Barron Trump to Make Political Debut as Florida Delegate to GOP Convention
Former President Donald Trump’s youngest son Barron Trump has been selected as a delegate to the Republican National Convention, the Florida GOP Chair announced Wednesday. Evan Power says the 18-year-old high school senior will serve as one of the 41 at-large delegates from Florida at July’s convention.
Barron Trump, who was only 10 years old at the time of his father’s inauguration in 2017, has largely remained outside the national spotlight during his family’s time in politics. He turned 18 just two months ago, and is expected to graduate from his high school in West Palm Beach next week.
The national convention will be held just two months later, from July 15 to 18 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Barron Trump will join his half-siblings Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Tiffany Trump as delegates in nominating their father as the party’s Presidential candidate.
In a statement released this week, Florida GOP Chair Evan Power wrote,
“We are fortunate to have a great group of grassroots leaders, elected officials, and members of the Trump family working together as part of the Florida delegation to the 2024 Republican National Convention,”
A spokesman for the Trump campaign said that Barron “is very interested in our nation’s political process,” according to a report by POLITICO.

Barron’s name has more recently made headlines amid his father’s trial in New York. Throughout court proceedings, former President Trump has complained that the schedule would likely force him to miss his son’s graduation, and petitioned the judge to allow him the day off on May 17. That request has since been granted, and Donald Trump is expected to travel to West Palm Beach next week.
It is unclear what Barron Trump plans to do after graduating from high school. While he has kept a low-profile over the years, the rest of the Trump children have featured prominently in their father’s campaigns. Donald Jr. is a frequent champion of his father’s efforts, while Eric and Tiffany appear more occasionally. While they have since distanced themselves from political life, daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner served as advisers in the Trump White House. Eric’s wife, Lara Trump, more recently became the vice chair of the Republican National Committee.
While young, sources close to the Trump family have said that Barron is “politically interested.”
“Barron is handsome, tall — taller even than his father – and very knowledgeable for someone his age,” one unnamed source said, according to the Daily Mail. Barron Trump, at 6’7, frequently towers over his parents in photos. “He’s also far more politically interested than people realize.”

Barron Trump will be eligible to vote for his father for the first time this November.
After a runway primary victory, Donald Trump became the presumptive GOP nominee in March, following the primaries of Georgia, Mississippi, and Washington state. His nomination will be made official in July, when Barron and the other national committee delegates cast their votes.
