Trump: Zuckerberg Told Me ‘No Way I Can Vote For a Democrat This Election’

Former President Donald Trump says he received a personal phone call from Mark Zuckerberg last summer, during which the Meta CEO said there’s “no way” he can vote for a Democrat this election.

In an interview with New York Magazine published Monday, Trump claimed that Zuckerberg reached out to him following the failed July 13 assassination attempt in Pennsylvania. “Mark Zuckerberg called up and said, ‘I’ve never supported a Republican before, but there’s no way I can vote for a Democrat in this election.’” Trump told the magazine.

“[Zuckerberg is] a guy that, his parents, everybody was always Democrat. He said, ‘I will never vote for the people running against you after watching what you did.’ So I mean, people really appreciated it.” ~ Trump to New York Magazine

A spokesman for Meta later responded to Trump’s claims but did not dispute the story, “As Mark has said publicly, he’s not endorsing anybody in this race and has not communicated to anybody how he intends to vote.”

The interview follows just two weeks after Zuckerberg issued a stunning admission about participating in censorship surrounding the 2020 Presidential election. In a letter written to House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, Zuckerberg admitted to being “pressured” by the FBI to restrict information on Facebook surrounding the Hunter Biden laptop scandal.

“It’s since been made clear that the reporting was not Russian disinformation, and in retrospect, we shouldn’t have demoted the story,” Zuckerberg wrote.

He additionally wrote that since 2021, his companies had been pressured “for months” by the Biden administration during COVID to remove “political humor and content.”

Last month, Trump made similar claims about a phone call with Zuckerberg during an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo. After Facebook wrongly flagged the now-famous photo of Trump surviving his assassination attempt, Zuckerberg reportedly called the former President to apologize personally.

“So, Mark Zuckerberg called me. First of all, he called me two times. He called me after the event and he said that was really amazing,” Trump told Bartiromo during an episode of ‘Mornings with Maria.’

“It was really brave. And he actually announced that he’s not going to support a Democrat because he can’t because he respected me for what I did that day. I think what I did… to me, was a normal response… He actually apologized. He said they made a mistake… and they’re correcting the mistake,”

During his interview with New York Magazine, Trump said he also received a call from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

“You know, I got so many nice calls from people I really don’t know. Jeff Bezos called. He said, ‘It is the most incredible thing I’ve ever watched.’” Trump told the magazine.

“And he appreciated what I did, in the sense of getting up and letting people know,” Trump said. “I said, ‘Despite the fact that you own the Washington Post, I appreciate it.’ He couldn’t have been nicer.”
