Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Shows Why Men & Women Should Never Compete

Men and women should not be competing against each other in sports. Men are physically stronger and have a significant advantage. This seemingly obvious fact has been the focus of an ongoing debate for years about whether or not trans athletes should be able to compete in women’s sports. Meanwhile, during this strange time in history when people were questioning what a woman is, you never heard a story of a woman who became a man and won a weightlifting contest or track meet. It’s always been the Lia Thomas of the swimming world, destroying the hopes and dreams of female athletes.

Now, people are finally coming to their senses, but a July 4th tradition could have saved us years of this woke nonsense. The 10-minute Nathan’s Hot Dog Contest, which has a men’s and a women’s competition, shows us a vast difference in weenie-eating ability between the sexes. Men can eat a lot more hot dogs than women, and there’s no debating cold, hard numbers.

Joey Chestnut holds the record for the most hot dogs eaten in a Major League Eating contest, with 76 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. Ready for the women’s record? Miki Sudo holds the women’s record with 51 hot dogs at the same time. Sudo’s husband, Nick Wehry, also a Nathan’s competitor, got caught cheating last year by adding a plate to his pile, which upped his count to 50 hot dogs, which put him in the elite category for Major League Eating. Only a few men have hit the 50 mark, and only one woman has. At 50 hot dogs, Wehry could identify as a woman and, with a little effort, become the number one woman, relishing a victory against his wife. Is this fair? Of course not.

Miki Sudo, Women’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest winner 2025

Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest was downright normal this Fourth of July. Wehry had his number from last year brought back to 48, which would have earned him a number 2 spot if he had been a woman this year, but alas, he had to compete with the men. After last year’s fake hot dog contract disaster, Joey had the chestnuts to return to Nathan’s and claim the mustard belt for this elite Major League Eating competition by wolfing down an astonishing 70.5 weenies. Nick Wehry came in at number 5 with 41.5 hot dogs, a meh number for a dude, but he would have kicked butt as a woman. Meanwhile, his wife, Miki Sudo, came in at 33 this year. It wasn’t her best year, but she still ate more dogs than any other woman who competed. Her husband, Wehry, would have relished quite the victory as a woman in 2025, and his wife would have left feeling sauer.

Nick Wehry, husband of Nathan’s champion Miki Sudo, may not be the hot dog-eating winner for the men’s or women’s competition, but after his 2024 cheating debacle, he could win World’s Biggest Weenie.

Nathan’s could have ended this debate when it started becoming a thing 5 years ago, but sometimes, people have to learn what’s right the hard way. The law banning transgender women and girls from participating in women’s and girls’ sports, known as the “Fairness in Women’s Sports Act,” was signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis in Florida in 2021 and took effect on July 1st of that year. In February of 2025, America caught up. President Donald Trump signed a nationwide executive order called” Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” which did the same thing. 2025 could end up being the year of the woman, as trans swimmer Lia Thomas was also stripped of his titles, and for that, all of America can say, “Hot dog!”
