Before the murder, Castillo was “acting normal,” holding his wife’s hand and kissing her. At one point, Castillo whispered something into Corinna’s ear and then went berserk, stabbing her around 20 times, including in the heart, with a six-inch hunting knife that he carried for “protection.”

According to witnesses, the couple had marital problems and had not lived together before the stabbing, although they were still married.

His sister and brother, who were not named, saw Castillo stab Woodhull with a hunting knife. Woodhull attempted to grab Castillo’s hair to pull him off her, but his sister said family members had to intervene and pull him away.

After stabbing her, witnesses claimed the mother-of-five begged them not to let her die.

According to the arrest affidavit, Castillo was being held to the ground by several bible study members when police pounded on their door. Another witness told police they believed he would attack more people if he had not been disarmed.

Woodhull was found on the ground with severe torso, chest, and arms wounds, and she was rushed to Regions Hospital. Upon arrival, the mother-of-five was pronounced dead.

The County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled her death a homicide.

Castillo was arrested and transported to the Ramsey County Jail, charged with second-degree murder, and held on a $5 million bond.

At the time of the stabbing, Castillo had a warrant out for his arrest after he failed to attend a pretrial hearing for assaulting an officer while in prison in Washington County.

Castillo has an extensive criminal history of eight felonies, including assault, burglary, and firearm possession. One of his convictions is for beating the mother of his child with a hammer, and he was sentenced to 10 years.
