Florida Man Busted Driving Over 100 Mph to Get Girlfriend to Taco Bell Interview on Time

Jevon Pierre Jackson, 22, of North Lauderdale, took a ride to Sheriff Wayne Ivey’s Green Roof Inn, aka the Brevard County Jail, for driving over 100 mph in a 40 mph zone with three children in his car.

Jackson was in quite a hurry as he was trying to get his girlfriend to her Taco Bell job interview on time, according to the arrest affidavit.

A lieutenant stopped Jackson after seeing him speed around his unmarked patrol vehicle in a black Mercedes and nearly hit an oncoming dump truck, according to an arrest affidavit from the Palm Bay Police Department.

The affidavit says that the dump truck swerved into the shoulder of the road to avoid a head-on collision with the Mercedes. The lieutenant also had to veer off the road so that the Mercedes wouldn’t crash, police said.

The affidavit says that the Mercedes passed another vehicle in the no-passing zone before Jackson pulled over to the right-hand shoulder.

Jackson was pulled over in the De Groodt Road and Gates Street area in Palm Bay. Jackson told the lieutenant he was driving fast because he wanted to get his girlfriend to her job interview on time.

Jackson was arrested and transported to the Brevard County Jail for reckless driving, child neglect without great bodily harm, and driving with a suspended license – habitual traffic offender (HTO).
