Meet Joe Kaufman- R Candidate Ready to Take Down Moskowitz
This November, voters will have a choice in Florida Congressional District 23, which covers a portion of purple Palm Beach County but mostly very blue Broward, to re-elect Democrat Congressman Jared Moskowitz or go for someone new, Republican Boca local Joe Kaufman, a counter-terrorism investigative reporter, husband to Spanish and Hebrew teacher Emily, father to an adorable eleven-year-old daughter, who has been involved in politics since he started canvassing as a ten-year-old in the 1980s for Ronald Reagan. The Kaufman campaign says this is a winnable seat for the right Republican. Many thought seasoned former Democrat politician Robert Weinroth would have a shot at this, but Kaufman surprised many by beating Weinroth, as well as a slew of other candidates, and dominating his primary election. Florida Jolt interviewed Kaufman so voters can get to know him and spread his message come November.

What are the top items you would like to accomplish in Congress?
Given my background in national security and counter-terrorism, I am uniquely positioned to lead efforts to protect our borders from invading criminals and terrorists and to strengthen our military. It is vital to end inflation, and I will support initiatives that do just that, including assisting our nation to become fiscally responsible and energy independent. I will also fight to bring more federal funds to our district, and I pledge to be accessible to all our constituents.
What are the worst things Jared Moskowitz is doing? In other words, why should voters vote him out?
Moskowitz spends too much time working on his ‘Sneaker Caucus’ and not enough time working on what makes life better for the constituents. I listen to the people of our community and will always be available to address constituents’ concerns and needs. Regarding bringing back Federal Dollars to our community, under Moskowitz, our district is ranked 24th out of 28 districts in Florida in terms of getting these vital funds. This is an abysmal failure. I will fight to get back much more Federal Funding to our district.
Moskowitz is a weak Israel supporter; I am a staunch supporter of Israel. While Moskowitz has been soft on protecting the border, I strongly advocate for border security.
Broward has a significant number of Dem voters and NPAs. What are you going to do to win over Dems and NPAs?
My message to NPAs and Democrats is the same as to Republicans. I support fiscal responsibility to reduce inflation and energize our economy. I stand for protecting our borders from criminals and terrorists. I will have an open-door policy to listen to the concerns of all our constituents, and I will prioritize bringing back federal funds to the district.
What is your stance on Israel?
We should be supporting Israel 100%. We should support her right to defeat our mutual enemies and stop pressuring her into submitting to the failed policy of a two-state solution. This is unlike Jared Moskowitz, who is only pro-Israel when he finds it safe and convenient in his ever-increasing anti-Israel party. Moskowitz’s refusal to vote to remove Rep. Ilhan Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee following her statements against Jews is evidence of this. After Kamala Harris bashed Israel worse than any VP in the history of our nation, Moskowitz invited her to visit District 23 to clean up her Israel-bashing image. And when she doubled down on her statement in Parkland, he said nothing, and later, he endorsed her.
Illegal immigration is a worsening problem. What can be done to stop the flow of illegals?
Millions of illegals are crossing our borders each year. Democrat leadership, with the support of Congressman Moskowitz, has ignored this issue for far too long. We have lost so many young people to drugs – including a cousin of mine – yet we do nothing to stop those peddling the worst of drugs from entering our shores. And human traffickers, terrorists, and gang members as well. We must prioritize border security and return to what worked in the prior administration. We cannot have open borders. This is a national security emergency, and I will prioritize ending the dangerous policies of open borders.

What needs to happen to improve the economy?
I grew up around the time of President Carter. I remember the gas lines, the Iranian hostage crisis, and the food prices surging as a result of massive inflation. Back then, it took a man named Ronald Reagan to come in and change all of this. Things are eerily similar under the current administration in Washington, D.C., supported by Congressman Moskowitz. More and more people have realized that inflation results from bad fiscal policy, and it is time for change. We must cut taxes and spending, loosen regulations, and promote America’s energy resources in a way that allows us to be energy-independent and makes us net exporters. I further support bringing back vital manufacturing and making products in the U.S.A.
What’s the best thing Trump did when he was in office?
Our economy was excellent under President Trump. Our economy under the current Democrat administration supported by Congressman Moskowitz has been a disaster! If people want to stop having to spend so much on food and gas, they will stop voting for reckless Democrats like Kamala Harris and Jared Moskowitz.
What’s the best thing Biden has done while he’s been in office?
Joe Biden has been a part of our government for decades. He is the poster child for why we need term limits in Congress. The best thing that Biden did while in office was quit running for the presidency because he was no longer capable.
36 trillion of debt. How do we get control of that?
Government spending is out of control. We must run our economy more efficiently. I support a complete overhaul and audit of out-of-control spending. What I will not do, though, is harm our senior’s benefits. Americans worked hard to be able to receive their Social Security and Medicare in later years, and I will fight to make sure that these programs are untouched. I came to Florida to take care of my grandmother, who was in and out of the hospital. I know how much she needed her benefits to survive. I want the seniors of District 23 to know that, as Congressman, I will have their backs just like I had the back of my best friend, my grandma.
Lastly, we end with a fun question. What is your favorite book or movie?
When I was seven, my grandfather took me to see Star Wars, and it was the first day it came out. I will always cherish that memory and have been a fan ever since.
