‘He. WILL. Turn. On. You.’ – Fmr. Press Secy. Grisham Blasts Trump

Trump Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham slammed the former President following his controversial attack on Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, saying, “You know this is going to happen to you eventually… when [Trump] has no use for you, you’re going to be gone.”

The former President attacked McEnany after she mistakenly downplayed his 34-point lead over runner-up Ron DeSantis, saying it was instead 25. Following the blunder, Trump would make controversial comments that landed him in hot water with conservative politicians and pundits, including Grisham.

“Kayleigh “Milktoast” McEnany just gave out the wrong poll numbers on FoxNews. I am 34 points up on DeSanctimonious, not 25 up. While 25 is great, it’s not 34. She knew the number was corrected upwards by the group that did the poll. The RINOS and Globalists can have her. FoxNews should only use REAL Stars!!!” ~President Trump on Truth Social

Grisham responded to a tweet showing Trump’s attack on McEnany, saying of the former President:

“He. WILL. Turn. On. You. There is only loyalty to HIM – not the country, the constitution, his constituents, or anything/anyone else.”

Following the President’s turbulent exit from the oval office, many of his former staffers and political appointees became sharply critical of the President. Pundits claim that McEnany was, and still is, loyal to Trump, leaving Grisham and many others questioning the rationale of the attack.

“[McEnany] fought hard for him, especially in the days after Jan. 6. [The attack on McEnany] didn’t surprise me.”

Matt Wolking, a former communications staffer for President Trump and now works for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, made similar remarks in response to the 45 president’s attack on McEnany.

“This nonsense from Trump is a disgrace… [McEnany] slayed the fake news hoaxers and the liberal media activists day in and day out for years. She took countless arrows defending him and she was great at it.”

Jenna Ellis, a former attorney for the President and staunch DeSantis supporter, retweeted a picture of the attack on McEnany. “I will simply leave this here,” she said, “for when people ask why I and *many* others didn’t return for 2024.”

Trump supporters defended the remarks, saying McEnany’s encouragement of a DeSantis campaign in mid-April was a sign of disloyalty.

“I am not speaking up for him, but in his defense, you turned on him first. You should be the last to talk.” ~@TBerlaga to Stephanie Grisham on Twitter

Despite the controversy and backlash from past supporters, the former President still holds a commanding lead in the GOP race. According to FiveThirtyEight aggregate polling, Trump has nearly 53 percent of the party supporting him, approximately double the support of runner-up Ron DeSantis.

With a long primary season just beginning and the pundit class beginning to turn against him, President Trump may be facing a more difficult nomination process than initially expected.
