FBI Agent in Charge Had Strong Concerns About Mar-a-Lago Raid-‘No Consent to Search

As news of President Trump’s second indictment has dominated headlines since Thursday afternoon, Representative Jim Jordan, R-Oh. recounted disturbing testimony from an FBI agent who claims that the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago ran afoul of due process and was conducted in an unorthodox manner.

The indictment of Trump was unsealed on Friday, revealing that the Department of Justice intends to charge him with 31 counts of violating the Espionage Act and six counts of obstruction of justice.

Rep. Jordan revealed that the August 2022 raid on Mar-a-Lago that was likely used to obtain evidence for the indictment was conducted improperly, according to an FBI agent who has voiced ‘strong concerns’ and revealed ‘several unusual features’ in the Department of Justice raid that led up to the indictment.

The agent who revealed the information, Steven D’Antuono, oversaw the investigation into the foiled kidnapping plot of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and now heads up the Washington DC Field Office, which is taking the lead on both the Mar-a-Lago and January 6th investigations.

D’Antuono said he had ‘absolutely no idea’ why the decision was made to raid Mar-a-Lago, further stating that the FBI did not wait for Trump’s attorneys before searching. He said that the FBI should have attempted to get consent from Trump’s attorneys before the search.

The chairman also claimed that the FBI “refused to wait for Trump’s attorney to be present before executing the search.” However, federal authorities contended that the Secret Service was notified just before the search, and at least three lawyers were present during it.

So far, the White House claims that it did not coordinate or speak with Attorney General Merrick Garland regarding the indictment of Trump as accusations of political bias continue to increase.

‘I have not spoken to him at all, and I’m not going to speak with him. And I have no comment on that.’ Biden said.

D’Antuono further said that he believed Garland or FBI Director Christopher Wray signed off on the warrant despite field agents opposing it.

The charges that Trump will have to face in Florida are in addition to charges in New York made by District Attorney Alvin Bragg, including; conspiracy to obstruct justice; withholding a document or record; corruptly concealing a document or record; and concealing a document in a federal investigation.

Before the indictment, Rep. Jordan sent a letter to Garland  saying that he had “grave concerns” that the DOJ’s actions toward Trump were “nothing more than a politically motivated prosecution.”

“During his transcribed interview, Mr. D’Antuono detailed how he disagreed with the Justice Department’s approach to the raid and described several abnormalities about the Department’s actions in pursuing its investigation of President Trump,” Jordan wrote.

Already, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, R-Ca. said that the House would further investigate the indictment against Trump.

“Merrick Garland: the American people elected us to conduct oversight of you. We will fulfill that obligation.” He said on Twitter.

This is a developing story.
