Family of Tim Walz Backs Trump
On Wednesday, a photo posted to social media shows several family members of Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Tim Walz wearing pro-Trump t-shirts and openly supporting the former President. The image, first shared to X by former Nebraska Republican gubernatorial candidate Charles Herbster, shows eight people wearing “Walz’s [sic] for Trump” shirts.
“Tim Walz’s family back in Nebraska wants you to know something…” Herbster added as a caption.
According to Fox News, the Nebraska Walz clan is reportedly related to the Minnesota Governor through his grandfather. Family members told the paper that they had a “distant” relationship with their left-wing cousin and that they were supporting Trump because “he supports our values.”
CBS News also confirmed the family relation after speaking with Herbster’s spokesman, Rod Edward.
“The family in the picture are the descendants of Francis Walz, who was brother to Tim Walz’s grandfather,” Edwards said. “They’re all Walzes and spouses.”

It was not long before the ‘Walz’s for Trump” photo caught the attention of the former President himself. Just hours after the original post, Trump republished it to Truth Social with the caption, “Thank you very much, Jeff. It is a Great Honor to have your Endorsement. I look forward to meeting you soon!”
Jeff Walz is the older brother of Gov. Tim Walz. While Jeff Walz was reportedly not in the photo, Trump indicated in his post that he intended to meet with him in the near future.
The elder Walz made headlines over the weekend after posting a series of Facebook posts in which he expressed opposition to his brother’s White House campaign.
“I’m 100% opposed to all his ideology,” Jeff Walz wrote Friday. “My family wasn’t given any notice [that] he was selected and denied security the days after,”
“Help MAGA… Get on stage with President Trump and endorse him…; Help save this country….,” another commenter replied under the post.
“I’ve thought hard about doing something like that!” Jeff wrote back. “I’m torn between that and just keeping my family out of it.”

In an interview with NewsNation, Jeff Walz later said that Facebook “wasn’t the right platform to do that for,” expressing some regret for his public comments. He did, however, confirm to the network that he had been estranged from his brother since 2016, following the funeral of their brother Craig.
Jeff Walz said his brother Tim had contacted him only once since to ask for tax information sought by Kamala Harris’ vetting team. Jeff reportedly refused.
“The stories I could tell,” Jeff Walz wrote on Facebook. “Not the type of character you want making decisions about your future.”
Gov. Tim Walz will face U.S. Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) in the Oct. 1 Vice Presidential debate. The event will be hosted in New York City and televised by CBS News.
