Election Drama: Tracy Caruso’s PBC Primary Update!
With less than two weeks remaining until the August 20th primary election in Palm Beach County, anything can happen. Primaries have turned into a battle of who is the most Ultra MAGA and, with that, who has gotten a Trump endorsement. 2024 is a different elephant, with some candidates in the county getting Trump’s “complete and total endorsement.” The question is, will that endorsement get these candidates over the finish line, and if it does, will it help or hurt in a general election? Time will tell. In the meantime, here’s Fl Jolt’s wrap-up of who’s the big swinging elephant trunk and who’s just a donkey’s ass.

CD 21
Did you know that Republican Congressman Brian Mast has a primary opponent for CD 21? Neither did anyone else. The opponent is Rick Wiles, and here’s what you need to know about this guy. Wiles, according to sources too numerous to list, seems to really, really hate Jews and Israel, and that’s why he wants Brian Mast, a friend of Israel who fought in the Israeli army, out of office—this schmuck’s chance of winning is zero.
CD 22, currently held by Democrat Congresswoman Lois Frankel, whose latest faux pas happened when she endorsed two Democrats running for the same House District 89 state seat and thought no one would notice. Three Republicans are running for the seat. Newcomer Andrew Gutmann, a parental rights in education advocate, is seen as the frontrunner in this race. Still, opponent Dan Franzese, who won the primary in 2022 and went on to the general only to get curb stomped by Frankel, is saying not so fast. Franzese just scored the Ultra MAGA golden ticket with a “complete and total endorsement” by Donald J. Trump, leaving another opponent, Deb Adeimy, questioning how this happened.

CD 23 has its drama. Democrat Congressman Jared Moskowitz currently holds this seat. For those who have read Fl Jolt’s Jack Furnari’s Conservative Voter Guide, you know that Robert Weinroth is his pick. He’s arguably the most well-known of the candidates. That’s not stopping his primary opponents from taking their best shot. Just when things seemed to be winding down, candidate Joe Kauffman took a swipe at opponent Darlene Swaffar and danced the hora all over her political campaign by sending out an article about her supposed contact with Lebanon and her statement that “only 2.5 percent of the district is Jewish” when it’s 20 percent. CD 23 is mostly Broward County, and one thing we can say about Broward is that it ain’t Dearborn, Michigan.
House District 94, currently held by term-limited State Rep Rick Roth, is the only state house seat in the area with a primary. Four Republican opponents hope to take on Democrat Rachelle Litt in the general. Candidate “MAGA Meg” Weinberger is the candidate who ended up with Trump’s “complete and total endorsement,” along with a slew of other endorsements that opponent Gabrielle Fox, who had a Veteran’s for Trump endorsement rescinded due to antisemitic social media comments, says Meg got through donations. Meanwhile, Fox’s entire background has come to light, but Fox claims it’s all false. One article stated that Fox is a former stripper. Despite the owner of one of the strip clubs saying it’s true, Fox denies it all and says she was some sort of clothing-wearing masseuse. So, is she an antisemitic former stripper and a psychologist, another claim she has made about herself? Who knows. What seems evident is that this Fox sounds more like a snake, and the best bet is to vote for any other Republican running in that race.
There’s a countywide Public Defender race, and Jack Furnari’s pick confused many when he chose a Democrat. Most people don’t know that there are no Republicans running in that race. Adam Frankel is the more moderate choice of the two Democrats running. It’s that simple. No, Adam Frankel is not Obama’s former speech writer. That’s a different one. No, Adam is not Lois Frankel’s son or relative, but what an unfortunate name to have today.
There’s a countywide State Attorney race. The Republican with the experience, financial backing, and ability to take out a Dem in the general election is frontrunner Sam Stern. His opponent, “Run Forrest Run, Freedman,” just isn’t going to be able to outrun or outraise a Dem in the general.
The primary race for sheriff looks more like a temper tantrum than a race. Candidate Mike Gauger called opponent Lauro Diaz a “f*king a*ssh*le” on a Zoom call. Supporters claimed this was a “f*cking lie,” despite the video evidence. Questions have also come up about Gauger’s military record. We’ll see if Lauro Diaz, a man who seems to be aware that cursing at someone on video is a bad idea, can win.
Everyone and their mother seems to be sending out lists with their picks, and maybe they’ll influence a handful of votes. But Furnari has been doing his guide for twenty years, and not only does he have an online following, but he also mails them to people with real mailbox mail.
With that, I leave you with a Beatles song I was inspired to re-lyricize, which explains Furnari’s political strategy for many years.
♫When I find myself in times of trouble, Jack Furnari comes to me. Speaking words of wisdom, punch them in the throat until they die.♫
You can’t get your message out unless you can get your message out. Jack’s Voter Guide is mailed to a lot of Republicans. Take the guide with you on election day.
