DeSantis Vows to ‘Break Up’ DOJ and FBI, Rebuild from ‘Ground Up’

Florida Governor and 2024 presidential candidate Ron DeSantis has pledged to “break up” the Department of Justice and FBI and “rebuild from the ground up” amidst the groundbreaking 37-charge indictment of ex-President Donald Trump.

“We’re not going to let all this power accumulate in Washington; we’re going to break up these agencies,” DeSantis said during a recent closed-door strategy session, according to RealClearPolitics.

The 2024 candidate pointed to several actions of the DOJ and FBI to prove their alleged takeover by partisan left-wing forces. “We’ve seen throughout this country that the DOJ and the FBI are controlled by one faction of our society,” he said, adding that the FBI harasses pro-life activists and subjects parents who dislike CRT or indoctrination to undue surveillance.

The governor has reportedly assembled a team of former Trump administration staffers, members of Congress, and conservative intellectuals to utilize his executive powers as efficiently and effectively as possible. His plan to take down the “deep state” outlines policies that could be enacted quickly and, most importantly, with little to no congressional interference.

His planned reforms would involve the relocation of the FBI and DOJ headquarters from Washington, D.C., the mass firing of “corrupt” federal bureaucrats and political appointees, and revoking security clearance for “50 former senior intelligence officials.”

The Florida governor has also said he will implement measures to prevent the political persecution of conservative citizens and activist groups, pledging that he will end “misinformation” task forces that have participated in the censorship of dissident conservative voices on the internet for years.

One key theme of the DeSantis campaign has been differentiating himself from President Trump while being palatable to his loyal MAGA base. Perhaps seeking to press this, the governor promised he would fire bureaucrats indiscriminately – something that Trump promised, but ultimately started too late in his presidency to have any measurable effect on political partisanship or corruption within the federal bureaucracy.

“If you’re performing poorly, you should be fired. It doesn’t matter if you’re a bureaucrat, or if you’re a political appointee. If [political bureucrats] are leaking, we’re going to fire people.” ~2024 candidate Ron DeSantis

DeSantis’s willingness to use state power has been one of his most significant selling points, and his plan to “break up” the increasingly partisan intelligence and justice apparatus has earned him great praise from conservative pundits and supporters.

Throwing a jab at President Trump for ‘whining,” a supporter of DeSantis implied that the Florida Governor’s successful record of fighting corrupt bureaucrats makes him more competent than the former president.

“Honestly this is the only worthwhile story of today. Ron DeSantis laying out an agenda he’s known to effectively follow through on, not bluster and incessant whining.” ~@Jake67_patriot on Twitter

Meanwhile, supporters of the former president have said that DeSantis’s new plan is a copy of President Trump’s “Agenda47” videos, where the 45th president has laid out his policy solutions for issues ranging from the DOJ to left-wing gender ideology.
