The sound operator that assaulted a journalist in New York City on Tuesday has been identified as an employee of CBS News after a video of the altercation was posted online. The viral video, viewed over 1.6 million times, shows CBS staffer David Forde attacking independent journalist Oren Levy while shouting. Levy, who operates the account “Viral News NY” on Twitter, could be seen trying to pull away from Forde, only for the sound operator to push the attack while shouting, “I will kill you!”
Dozens of major mainstream media outlets gathered at the site of former president Donald Trump’s arraignment on Tuesday–hoping to capture footage of protesters clashing–but the only fight they got was between corporate and independent journalists.

In the original footage, Forde can be seen grabbing Levy by the collar of his sweatshirt before being dragged away by other members of the media. Later that evening, more footage was posted online, showing other people around Forde initially trying to restrain him before he finally grabs ahold of the independent journalist.

Levy tweeted in response to the new footage,
“[CBS News] fire him immediately. I need to speak to your bosses ASAP ! You’re working is clearly lying.”
He then tagged Johnny Green, Jr., the President and General Manager of CBS New York, and asked,
“is this how your employees behave? I need to speak with you Asap. My email is [email protected].”
“Meech Memez,” the producer for Human Events that recorded the original footage, also demanded accountability from CBS,
“[CBS New York] right about now would be a great time for you to update us about your employee, David Forde. Is he still employed by you guys? Do his actions today represent you as a news entity? Does [CBS New York] employ people who hurl death threats while on the clock?”

“This has to be said,” Jack Posobiec later tweeted.
“The only violence at the yesterday was when a CBS employee assaulted and threatened to kill another journalist reporting at the courthouse And now CBS is desperately trying to cover up what happened Should we let them get away with it?”
CBS has not yet issued any comment relating to the assault.
