Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) visited Manhattan this week for a speaking event and somehow got an even worse reception than Donald Trump, with protesters disrupting the event to call her a “war criminal” and a “sad old drunk.” Pelosi was presenting a talk at The City University of New York’s Graduate Center on Monday, alongside economist Paul Krugman, when several outraged audience members derailed the event. Video of the chaos surfaced on Wednesday.
“You know, Pelosi, that’s a very good place for you in the depths of hell,” one woman shouted from the audience. Security quickly moved to escort the woman from the room, but they weren’t fast enough.
“For some reason, you have a very bad obsession of getting us into war,” the woman continued as Pelosi’s supporters started booing the outburst.
“Hey, why is it that you did not admit that there were no WMDs in Iraq? You lied us into a war in Iraq. You got us to invade Afghanistan. Now over 90 percent of those people are impoverished and are dying.”
“Why don’t you tell the truth about Nordstream?” the woman added, referencing the Russian-owned gas pipeline that was sabotaged in September.
“Why did we destroy Nordstream? You’re leaving millions of Germans without energy! People like you should be arrested, you are a war criminal!”

Security personnel eventually managed to drag the protester from the room, but another protester started up just as she was shut down.
“Hey, congresswoman, I came to see a warmonger, but you’re a sad old drunk! What happened?” A male audience member shouted, eliciting more groans from Pelosi’s supporters.
“When you went to Taiwan, were you looking for Ukraine? Did we blow up the Nordstream on accident or on purpose? Did you know about that? … You’re a war criminal by definition Ms. Pelosi. You got some nerve. Is that why you’re here in Manhattan?”
The protester referred to Donald Trump’s then-upcoming visit to Manhattan for his arraignment and asked Pelosi if she was in New York City to face an indictment of her own.
“You goddamn war criminal! How many people have died in your f–king name?” the man screamed as security dragged him from the room. Someone can be heard shouting, “Get out of here!” at the protester.

However, the disruption did not end there as two more protesters–one after the other–later stood up to voice their own disgust with the former House Speaker. Security again physically removed the hecklers from the room as audience members tried to drown out the protest by booing and shouting.
“This needs to happen all the time,” one Twitter user commented on the video. “They need to be called out on their hypocrisy and corruption.”
“More of this, please,” said another.
A description of Pelosi from the CUNY speaking event page describes the California Democrat as the “chief architect of generation-defining legislation, including the Affordable Care Act and the American Rescue Plan.”
