Whistleblower Reveals Bank of America Helped FBI Target Gun Owners in Jan 6 Investigations

Retired FBI National Security Intelligence Supervisor George Hill revealed Bank of America provided a list to the FBI of all customers who made transactions involving weapons in or around D.C. January 5–7, 2021, in a closed-door interview with the House Judiciary Committee.

Among several other allegations, Hill argued that Bank of America compiled the list independently and had “no directive from the FBI,” according to a transcription of Hill’s testimony reviewed by Breitbart News. Moreover, the bank prioritized “anyone who had purchased a firearm [anywhere] during any date” using a Bank of America card at the top of its list.

Hill’s testimony comes on the heels of Speaker McCarthy’s creation of the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, which is tasked with investigating any abuses of power and violations of civil rights by executive agencies.

However, Hill admitted that he never saw the list himself.

“I did not see the list, but I did see the EC [electronic communication] that the FBI used it to bring it into the—into SENTINEL [FBI database],”

Hill also argued that the FBI’s Washington Field Office (WFO) Pressured its’ Bank of America Field Office to investigate names on the Bank of America List. Hill testified that a supervisory special agent (SSA) with the Boston office pushed back against the alleged order at the time. He quoted the Boston agent as saying that there was” ‘no predication, there’s no crime that was committed by using a BoA product in the District or around the District’ and said, you know, ‘No further action required.'”

But that wasn’t the end of it. According to Hill, the conflict continued.

“To which WFO came back on a peer-to-peer level, an SSA to SSA, and said, ‘No, you need to open up cases on these,’ to which he said, ‘No, we’re not going to,’”

According to Hill, the Washington Office continued to push Boston to leverage the Bank of America list, and Boston continued to resist. Hill testified that he didn’t know if the WFO opened its case.

Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, who was once poised as a potential challenge to McCarthy in the speakership race, has said he’s received “dozens” of whistleblower complaints from within the FBI since Biden took office. His committee has interviewed three whistleblowers, including Hill, this year. Jordan is seeking testimony from 16 FBI employees to investigate the situation further.

Democrats on the committee, however, were not convinced. Hill’s testimony is based on internal FBI communications about the Bank of America list, and he admits he never saw the document himself. For Democrats, this was—a problem.

“He had no knowledge of the actual origins of this supposed evidence, never used the evidence himself, and never looked at the actual document containing the information.”

The Democrats also contended that Hill was inexperienced based on his involvement in “less than a dozen” cases related to January 6. At the same time, they also voiced concerns about potential bias, citing tweets after leaving the FBI where Hill implied that January 6 was not an insurrection but a setup.

Despite surrounding circumstances, the FBI did not respond or rebuke the claims but insisted they would not engage in the activity Hill described.

“While we cannot comment on specific claims, the FBI follows the law and the facts and will never open an investigation based solely on First-Amendment protected activity.”
