WATCH: Vance Taunts Kamala, Calls Air Force 2 His ‘Future Plane’
GOP Vice Presidential nominee J.D. Vance shocked reporters Wednesday after he attempted to confront Vice President Kamala Harris directly while their planes briefly occupied the same Wisconsin tarmac.
“I just wanted to check out my future plane, but I also wanted to go say hello to the Vice President and ask her… why does she refuse to answer questions from the media?” Vance told a crowd of reporters gathered by the runway.
Harris’ Vice Presidential jet had touched down just minutes before Vance emerged from his plane. Accompanied by an entourage of staffers, he walked straight over to Air Force Two, which he told reporters he hoped would be “my plane” soon.
“I also thought you guys might get lonely because the vice president doesn’t answer questions from reporters and hasn’t for 17 days.”
While Harris did not exit her plane to meet Vance, the Ohio Senator continued criticizing her to the reporters’ crew.

Despite launching her campaign for President nearly three weeks ago, Harris has yet to field any questions from reporters. “I’d love her to just answer what she wants to do and also explain why every single position she has has changed,” Vance said.
“She pretends to be a tough on crime prosecutor and yet here she is wanting to defund the police. She’s the border czar, yet she’s opened up the American southern border.”
Harris’ last sit-down interview was nearly two months ago, on June 24, when she appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe to discuss the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s ‘Dobbs’ decision. News organizations have been pressuring the Harris-Walz campaign for access, but no interviews have been granted so far.
According to Politico, the campaign is considering a joint interview with Harris and Vice Presidential nominee Tim Walz before the convention, which is scheduled to begin Aug. 19.
“This is a person who has to answer questions from the media, and it’s disgraceful that she runs from you guys,” Vance concluded. “And it’s also insulting to the American people.”

Make sure AF2 is deep cleaned because Lord only knows what @KamalaHarris and her team have done on there. The smell alone on that plane must be crazy. https://t.co/0Kr0K3QXYR

Following the standoff, the Harris campaign took a shot at Vance on social media, posting a video from the tarmac with the TikTok-style caption, “All of a sudden, I hear this agitating, grating voice.”
“Make sure Air Force Two is deep cleaned because Lord only knows what [Harris] and her team have done on there,” Trump-Vance campaign spokesman Steven Cheung wrote on X. “The smell alone on that plane must be crazy.”
Vance and Harris crossed paths while campaigning in Wisconsin. With its ten electoral votes, the battleground state remains hotly contested by a razor-thin margin. According to a Marquette poll published last week, Harris currently leads in the state by just 1 point. A Fox News poll conducted in the same time frame found the opposite, with Trump beating Harris by 1 point.
