Walz’s ‘Secret Fling’ With Top CCP Official’s Daughter

Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Tim Walz reportedly had a “secret fling” in the 1980s with the daughter of a top Chinese Communist Party official, during which he allegedly treated her “like a prostitute” and drove her to the brink of suicide.

Jenna Wang told the New York Post and the Daily Mail that the pair began dating in 1989 during Walz’s teaching stint in Foshan. Walz, now the Governor of Minnesota, purportedly showered her in gifts and “seduced her.” The two could not be seen in public, however, due to Wang’s father holding a high-ranking position in the Communist Party.

Instead, the relationship continued behind closed doors. Walz regularly presented Wang with Western luxuries, such as blue jeans, Ray Ban sunglasses, and jewelry. At one point, Walz convinced her that the pair would get married. “We talked for hours and hours, we stayed in bed, we had sex. He continued to buy me gifts,” Wang told the Daily Mail.

After Walz returned to the United States, the two continued to exchange letters, but no marriage proposal came. Walz allegedly asked Wang for a passport photo and address information at one point but did not follow through on applying for a visa. When Walz returned to visit Wang in 1992, his behavior became “clumsy,” and Wang faced scrutiny for dating a Westerner, according to the Mail.

“People were staring at us. I tried to reject it because I was very afraid. Teachers were supposed to set an example,” Wang said.

The New York Post also published part of a public letter written by Wang to Walz,

“While, it is true, you had not promised marriage before you had arrived back in China, marriage was what I had assumed,” she wrote. “Too, marriage was what you had led me to believe—as well as led others to believe, including that female colleague of yours with whom we had tea.”

“I was giving it up to be with Tim, to get married and start a family,” Wang told the Mail. “Knowing now that he wasn’t going to marry me made me feel cheap and common as if I was being treated like a prostitute.”

Walz’s repeated trips to China during his teaching days have become an issue on the campaign trail. An August letter from the U.S. House Oversight Committee estimated Walz had made at least 30 trips to China since the 1980s. The Chinese government-funded his first trip as an English instructor.

On Monday, Florida Senator Marco Rubio raised concerns over Walz’s alleged relationship with Wang and called for a formal investigation.

“If the story today in [Daily Mail] is true,” Rubio wrote. “Tim Walz had a relationship with the daughter of a high-ranking Chinese Communist Party official and remained in contact with her for years after.”

“If you aspire to be Vice-President of the United States, voters deserve to know everything about any and every link you have to the CCP.”

Walz would marry his wife, Gwen Whipple, in 1994, one year after breaking off his relationship with Wang. The wedding took place on the fifth anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre so the couple could “have a date he’ll always remember,” his wife later recounted.

“Tim lied about Tiananmen Square, and he’s lied about other things,” Wang told the Mail.

“This is a very crucial moment in history, and a man like this does not appear to have the character and integrity to do one of the most important jobs in the world.”
