Video of NFL Hall-of-Famer Cheering Little Boy Wearing Drag, Dancing in Gay Bar Resurfaces
A disturbing 2018 clip from Good Morning America resurfaced this week of host Michael Strahan celebrating an 11-year-old boy for “trailblazing” a path for other children… by wearing drag and dancing at a gay bar for money.
Strahan, an NFL Hall-of-Famer, and co-host Sara Haines, who now sits on the cast of The View, gave a significant boost to child “drag artist” Desmond Napoles during a segment in which the young boy appeared wearing a dress, a blonde, wig, and makeup. He describes himself as an “androgynous drag kid.”
Napoles, who uses the stage name “Desmond is Amazing,” told Strahan that he first began wearing girl’s clothes at 6. He claims his therapist advised his parents to allow him to “explore,” after which he was featured in a music video with adult drag performers RuPaul and Jinkx Monsoon.
Strahan invited Napoles on the show to celebrate his “trailblazing” and “bravery.”

Later in the same segment they bring out there adult drag queens who give the young boy gifts of makeup and free "dance classes." This is a real thing that happened and was aired on ABC. pic.twitter.com/qmUxp877r0

In a disturbing scene, the hosts praised the 11-year-old for “inspiring” others by cross-dressing and praised the young boy’s parents for encouraging him to dress in drag. During a conversation with the hosts, Napoles shared that his interests include trains and root beer.
“It’s a tough world out there, and not everyone’s accepting of things, and some people have criticized you,” Haines said to Napoles at one point during the segment. “What do you say to them?” After thinking for a moment, Napoles replied, “It’s fine.” The hosts praised the 11-year-old
Later in the segment, Napoles performed a dance while the hosts and audience cheered, before being joined on stage in a surprise visit by several “iconic drag queens,” who offered him gifts, including makeup and a unicorn bag with fake nails.

That same year, Napoles was filmed dancing at the 3 Dollar Bill Club in Brooklyn, which describes itself as the “largest queer venue” in the borough.
The video, which was promoted by the boy’s mother, Wendy Napoles, shows him in a blonde wig, crop top, and high heels dancing on stage as adults throw dollar bills at him. In 2019, the Brooklyn Paper reported that more than 150 complaints had been filed with the city’s Administration for Children’s Services as a result of the video.
Child protective services called the accusations “unfounded.”
At the time, blogger Elizabeth Johnston of Activists Mommy wrote that the segment was “creepy” and blasted Good Morning America for promoting child abuse.
“Drag queens are, and always have been, typical features of adult entertainment venues, and the culture surrounding drag performing is shrouded with overt sexuality…
All cross-dressing aside, drag culture is nothing children should be integrated into, but clearly, those in the entertainment industry think it’s ‘cute’ to see a little boy take on the gender-bending characteristics of men who typically appear on the stages of strip clubs and bars.”
