Trump Calls on ‘All Willing States’ to Deploy National Guard to Texas

Former President Donald Trump is calling on “all willing states” to begin mobilizing their national guards to Texas amid a standoff between Governor Greg Abbott and the Biden administration over the right to defend the southern border. The federal government continues to demand access to a 30-mile stretch of land on the Texas-Mexico border to begin cutting razor wire defenses. In a series of Truth Social posts Thursday, Trump supported Abbott in defying the White House and vowed to end the invasion of the United States on “day one” of his next Presidency.

“When I was President, we had the most secure Border in History. Joe Biden has surrendered our border and is aiding and abetting a massive Invasion of millions of Illegal Migrants into the United States,” Trump wrote.

“Instead of fighting to protect our Country from this onslaught, Biden is, unbelievably, fighting to tie the hands of Governor Abbott and the State of Texas, so that the Invasion continues unchecked. In the face of this National Security, Public Safety, and Public Health Catastrophe, Texas has rightly invoked the Invasion Clause of the Constitution, and must be given full support to repel the Invasion…”

On Wednesday, Abbott declared in an official statement that “Because the Biden Administration has abdicated its constitutional compact duties to the states, Texas has every legal justification to protect the sovereignty of our states and our nation.” The Texas Military Department has continued to deny Border Patrol agents access to the U.S. border.

Trump also encouraged U.S. states to deploy their national guards to the southern border and assist Texas in stopping the flood of illegal immigrants. In December alone, 300,000 migrants are estimated to have crossed the border illegally.

“We encourage all willing States to deploy their guards to Texas to prevent the entry of Illegals and to remove them back across the Border,” Trump wrote.

“All Americans should support the commonsense measures by Texas authorities to protect the Safety, Security, and Sovereignty of Texas, and of the American people. When I am President, on Day One, instead of fighting Texas, I will work hand in hand with Governor Abbott and other Border States to Stop the Invasion, Seal the Border, and Rapidly Begin the Largest Domestic Deportation Operation in History. Those Biden has let in should not get comfortable because they will be going home.”

Twenty-five U.S. Governors signed a letter Thursday declaring support for Texas and asserting the state’s Constitutional right to self-defense. The letter represented every Republican Governor in the nation, except Vermont’s Governor Phil Scott, who voted for Joe Biden in 2020.

“We stand in solidarity with our fellow Governor, Greg Abbott, and the State of Texas in utilizing every tool and strategy, including razor wire fences, to secure the border,” the Republican Governor’s Association said.

On Thursday, South Dakota Governor Kristie Noem signaled that she was open to sending her state’s national guard after doing so last summer. Earlier this week, Governor Ron DeSantis pledged to assist Texas in securing the border.t
