Sheriff Candidate Gauger Claims FOP Endorsement-FOP Says Nope
PBSO Lodge #50 posted a graphic on social media showing that Palm Beach County Candidate for Sheriff Mike Gauger was endorsed by the FOP (Fraternal Order of Police), which was great news until some started questioning it. Republican Congressional candidate Deb Adeimy says her name was removed, and someone put Gauger’s name in her spot instead. Adeimy, who is counting on winning her primary to oust Democrat Congresswoman Lois Frankel, was endorsed by FOP. She says that the graphic has been altered to erase her name. Gauger’s name has been put on it instead. Jim Sniffen, who serves on three FOP boards, confirmed exclusively with Florida Jolt that the Deb Adeimy graphic is correct. Although he has no idea who created the other graphic, it is not the endorsement of the entire district or state FOP. So what does this mean, and what happened?

Although no one has confirmed who created the Gauger graphic, a screenshot showing the graphic with Gauger’s name appears in a different font from the rest of the graphic. Even more telling is that this graphic has quietly disappeared from all social media as though it never happened. The two graphics tell the story, and readers can decide for themselves.
Hot Mic Lands PBC Candidate for Sheriff Mike Gauger in Hot Water
FOP has a rigorous endorsement process. The state FOP oversees districts, which are made up of a group of lodges. When the district makes an endorsement, it is sent to the state for final confirmation. The state and district have endorsed long-time Sheriff Ric Bradshaw many times. This time, something unusual happened. One lodge, Lodge #50, which happens to be the PBSO lodge, “went rogue” and endorsed candidate Mike Gauger, which means that although none of the other lodges endorsed Gauger, without the home lodge’s support, the full FOP endorsement couldn’t go to anyone. The State and District did not approve the endorsement.

Jim Sniffen sits on the state FOP’s executive board, is the district’s Deputy Director of Palm Beach County FOP, and is Vice President of the West Palm Beach FOP. He could not confirm if the FOP graphic had been altered, as Adeimy claimed, but he confirmed that the graphic on which Adeimy is listed is accurate and that Gauger has not been endorsed by state or district FOP.
Lodge #50 is all in for Gauger, and there’s something to be said for that, but the rest of the FOP is not. Someone screwed up by mistake or on purpose with this misleading graphic, but no one’s talking. Florida Jolt contacted Lodge #50, but there hasn’t been a response. Although the Gauger FOP endorsement isn’t an outright lie, it’s disingenuous and doesn’t pass the smell test. This is a developing story.
