Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre DODGES Questions if Nashville Shooting is Hate Crime
Biden Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre was asked recently if the Nashville shooting of a Christian High School qualified as a hate crime, but she refused to answer.
Former Vice President Mike Pence has said that if the shooting was motivated by animosity toward Christians, it should be categorized as a hate crime. However, the White House Press Secretary said the president wasn’t even willing to agree with that hypothetical, claiming, “It’s not for us to decide.”

Some Twitter users pointed out the double standard present.
“They decide ALL the time except for now,” wrote one. “They’ve been very clear about their double standards,” said another.

One user even pointed out how a “hate crime” originated for purposes of political punishment instead of objective legal doctrine.
“Because “hate crime” laws are a direct descendent of the old Soviet Article 58 – vaguely defined allowing the powers that be to weaponize against their enemies while allowing their allies to skate for the same or worse offenses.”

Users took the opportunity to directly compare the White House’s response to Nashville to its handling of the Buffalo shooting last May.

“Today the WH refused to call the Nashville terror attack a “hate crime,” saying “it’s not for us to decide.”Yet last May, the WH @PressSec was much less circumspect about the Buffalo mass shooting”.
In the aftermath of that tragedy, Jean-Pierre condemned the shooting as a hate crime, even after admitting more investigating was to come.
“We still need to learn more about the motivation for the shooting as law enforcement does their work. But we don’t need anything else to state a clear moral truth: which is a racially motivated hate crime is abhorrent to the very fabric of this nation. Hate must not have a safe harbor. This is something the President says very often, especially in these horrific instances that we’ve seen time and time again. We must do anything in our power to end hate-fueled domestic terrorism and we must reject hatred and extremism ideology that seeks to divide Americans whenever we find it in our society. It is antithetical to who we are as a country and it fuels violence as well.”
Yeah, but this is (D)ifferent…

While the shooter’s manifesto has not yet been released to the public, unlike other shootings, which say something of itself, the available information points to an anti-christian motive. The shooter, a former student of the school, has expressed resentment and anger toward the school because of its Christianity. The shooter was also a woman who identified as a man. While the trans activists at large tend to have issues with Christians, the shooter specifically had severe problems with Christians as well. The shooter’s status as a trans person also put her in a high-risk category for violent radicalization.
However, none of this evidence was enough for the White House to stay consistent and label the attack a hate crime.
