In over thirty years of Florida politics. I’ve met a lot of slimy, lying politicians, but none of them were as bad as the current Mayor Of Boca Raton, Scott Singer, and now, even a Federal Judge agrees.
Florida Jolt has been documenting Singer’s lies and half-truths since last year, but props to the Coastal Star and reporter Mary Kate Leming for their story on a lawsuit involving Natural Lands LLC suing Boca Raton for stripping their property of “all economically beneficial or productive use.”
According to U.S. District Judge Rodney Smith, Sunshine laws were broken, lies were told, and three city council members, Scott Singer, Andrea Levine O’Rourke, and Monica Mayotte, were so biased that they could not vote on the matter again. However, O’Rourke’s last day in office was March 31st due to term limits, so she isn’t directly affected.
Singer, Judge Smith said, was biased, and his testimony “made it clear as to his stance — he cannot be a fact-finder and impartial decision-maker in this particular matter.”
Smith found that to be particularly irksome because Singer, who was out of town and testified via video recording, is a lawyer. “He could not even address … what does the term ‘being fair’ mean. He looked at us like a deer in headlamps who was a person, a trained lawyer, that he has never heard of the word ‘fair’ before,” Smith said. ~Coastal Star
O’Rourke, the judge said, presented “unbelievable” testimony on the witness stand. At one point she “pretended” that she did not know she had been prohibited from voting in the case by the Palm Beach County Circuit Court and the 4th District Court of Appeal, he said.
Mayotte, too, “demonstrated complete bias from the start,” said the judge. “Clearly she had no business casting a decision knowing how she felt.” ~Coastal Star
I urge my readers to read the entire Coastal Star story because it perfectly illustrates how sleazy and corrupt the Boca City Council has become.
Boca Raton: Judge rebukes officials, orders new review of proposed beach house
The only publications I know who have honestly covered and exposed the corruption in Boca Raton are FloridaJolt, the community group Boca First, and now The Coastal Star. The legacy media is a joke and have become nothing more than an outlet for press releases from the Boca Raton City Council and Singer.
Singer is the worst of the bunch.
Singer lied about moving the qualifying date to run for city council. A sneaky, secretive decision that resulted in no one running against Singer.
The story begins with the City Council’s decision to move the date to qualify to run for the Boca Council to November 9, 2022, the day after the general election. The Mayor and another council member told me that’s what the supervisor of elections wanted, which was a lie.~Jack Furnari
Singer lied about raising taxes in Boca Raton.
Singer, the “Republican,” lied about supporting Democrat Andy Thonmpson over Republican Peggy Gossett-Seidman for Florida Hosue District 91. He endorsed him and helped him, and he was publicly rebuked by the Chair of the Republican Party of Palm Beach County, Michael Barnett.
Singer refused to explain how it came to be that a ballot question to extend his term and those of other grifters on the council ended up before the city council and why they held the vote right before Thanksgiving when most residents were busy with family.

Singer lied about how much he supported the city council term extension even though he practically begged people to vote for it on Facebook.
There’s so much more that it’s better to assume that whatever comes from Singer’s mouth is a lie, obfuscation, or half-truth rather than try to ascertain the rare occurrence when he’s being honest.
Singer reminds me of Bill Clinton when he was deposed over Lewinsky and said
“It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is. If the—if he—if ‘is’ means is and never has been, that is not—that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement. … Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. And it would have been completely true.” ~Bill Clinton
I’m sick of Singer’s smug little lies, and we in Boca Raton may be stuck with this little weasel of a man for a while, but we can start holding him and the rest of the grifters he associates with accountable.
