Post-Election News With Tracy Caruso
Election season is finally done, and the results are historic. Donald J. Trump is our next president, despite the utterly wrong prediction by some Nostradamus wannabe from New York, Allen Lichtman, and the off-the-mark call of big shot Dem pollster Nate Silver. Palm Beach County kept their Republican seats, and now the school board has a couple of Republicans, an unheard-of idea just a few short years ago. The love judge was elected in Palm Beach County, and a TV Real Housewife calls our county home. All of this and more in this week’s column, so read on.

Americans Have Spoken – Donald J. Trump will be the 47th POTUS
The 2024 win for Donald J. Trump is historic. It’s the first time a Republican has won the national popular vote since 2004. Make no mistake about what this election was; it was a call to action. Regular Americans want the economy to work again, they want to fix immigration, they want crime under control, and they don’t want to be called nazis and bigots for expecting these things to get done. Additionally, they don’t want to be called racists for mispronouncing the name Kamala, and now they don’t have to think about it. This is a massive moment in American history. Now, let’s come together and be unburdened by what has been done, whatever that means.
New York’s Nostradamus Gets Pres Election Wrong
A political historian named Allen Lichtman is known as the Nostradamus of elections. The 77-year-old professor has correctly predicted 9 out of 10 presidential elections since 1984, as reported by the NY Post. This time, he got it wrong. When he learned about President-Elect Trump, he said, “I don’t get it.” The larger question is, why is anyone surprised that some random guy guessed wrong?
Unlike Nate Silver, who will try to squirm out of why he didn’t see the election coming, I admit that I was wrong. I will assess the election and the keys on my live show this Thursday at 9 PM Eastern. @allanlichtmanyoutube.

Republicans Caruso, Gossett-Seidman, Snyder & Weinberger a Big PBC Win
The Florida House has retained its Supermajority. State Reps Mike Caruso (R-West Palm Beach), Peggy Gossett-Seidman (R-Boca Raton), and John Snyder (R-Stuart) crushed their opponents and are returning to the state house. Term-limited Rick Roth has a Republican successor, Meg Weinberger. State Senator Gayle Harrell (R-Martin County) retained her seat as well.
Gossett-Seidman’s opponent took to Facebook and said this after his loss.
I lost my race, and I’m sad about that. But tonight, I’m especially sad for every woman and queer person in Florida.
-Jay Shooster
This statement shows how woefully out of touch some candidates are with what’s happening in Florida, and the results reflect that.
In House District 93, Anne Gerwig (R-Wellington) probably defeated the incumbent Katherine Waldron (D-Wellington). The unofficial results are Gerwig receiving 45,923 votes and Waldron receiving 45,565 votes. Gerwig leads by 358 votes. It is close enough to trigger a recount, but the result is unlikely to change.
Floridians have spoken loud and clear. They like the job the legislature is doing under Governor Ron DeSantis’s leadership and want it to continue.
New PBC Judge – She Is Small, but She Is Mighty
Congratulations to Lourdes Casanova, the first Hispanic female to be elected as a judge in Palm Beach County. At 5 feet tall and 95 lbs, she’s also the littlest judge in the county. This lady is breaking records everywhere, and with a name like Casanova, she’s sure to rule with strength and love. Expect to see big things from this powerhouse.
Casanova had this to say about her big win.
I am committed to upholding the principles of justice, fairness, and integrity in our courts. I look forward to the important work ahead in the “people’s court” and sincerely appreciate your trust in me.
~Judge Lourdes Casanova.
Floridians Say No to Marijuana and Abortion
Ballot Amendments 3 and 4 were touchy subjects. To change the Florida constitution, 60 percent of the voters needed to support them. It didn’t happen. To quote the late First Lady Nancy Reagan, Floridians just said no.

Palm Beach County Has Two Republican School Board Members
It’s no secret that Republicans have been targeting school board races throughout the country, and Palm Beach County is no exception. Republicans picked up two school board seats with wins for Gloria Branch and Matt Lane.
Lane had this to say to Florida Jolt.
This job is the opportunity of a lifetime. I have the ability to affect the lives of 170,000 students and generations of children. It is a dream come true.
~School Board Member Matt Lane
Real Housewife of New York Moves to Palm Beach County
According to Script News, Mayor Adams of New York is asking people to take shorter showers to conserve water. Maybe that’s why the NY Post has reported that Sonja Morgan from The Real Housewives of New York has recently moved to Palm Beach Beach County. In the free state of Florida, she can shower for as long as she wants.
Birds Hold a Grudge
Here’s some news unrelated to politics. According to The NY Times, university of Washington Professor John Marzluff experimented to see how long crows hold a grudge. He estimates that crows hold a grudge for about 17 years. Only the raven knows why he performed this experiment.
America has spoken, and the 2024 election is over. Many Floridians are happy, and the ones who aren’t, hopefully, won’t hold a 17-year-old grudge like a crow or a Real Housewife. Only in Florida, friends. Only in Florida.
