PBC Supervisor of Elections Wendy Link Leads With Vision and Integrity
Current Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections (SOE) Wendy Link is up for re-election in November and in a highly contested race against Jeff Buongiorno. Buongiorno, a volatile conspiracy theorist, would have you believe Wendy Link is an election-stealing, deep-state partisan who wants to allow illegal immigrants to vote, but don’t believe it. This couldn’t be further from the truth. While our election system nationwide needs work, the office in Palm Beach County has been run well, and Link is still the best choice for SOE. Her support from both sides of the aisle tells voters what they need to know. Link is fair, honest, and trustworthy. Florida Jolt interviewed Link, and the interview was enlightening.

For those who don’t know the backstory, attorney Wendy Link is a moderate common sense attorney born and raised in Palm Beach County. She was initially a Republican, first appointed to this seat by Governor Ron DeSantis in 2019 when former long-time SOE Susan Bucher ran a highly partisan recount in 2018, with results that rightly created mistrust amongst voters in the county. Bucher was removed by newly elected Governor DeSantis and replaced by Wendy Link. Palm Beach County, until recently, was a blue county that many felt, and some still feel, is un-winnable for a Republican countywide. Link became a Democrat, and for some, this created mistrust for Link, but it ensured her successful election win in 2020, and she’s been in office ever since. Despite a nonstop string of threats to her life, one of the revelations discovered when interviewing Link is that she still wants the position and is arguably the best Supervisor of Elections in the state.
Link’s opponent, Republican Jeff Buongriorno, has some ideas that many would agree with. There’s no doubt that the voting time is way too long, and there have been issues with voting by mail. That said, an SOE isn’t tasked with making the actual laws. According to the Sun Sentinel, “Buongirono would like to end early and mail-in voting and believes election fraud is rampant, especially in the 2020 election that cost Donald Trump the White House.”
Whether one agrees with these ideas or not, the person in the actual position cannot change these laws.
Buongiorno first got his name out in Republican circles when he ran for Congress in a primary against Brian Mast in 2022. He got hammered, but now he’s back. His true passion, even then, seemed to be about fixing election fraud. While watchdogs need to keep an eye out for what’s going on, Buongiorno has, as I see it, harassed Link and the staff of the SOE so much that he has been banned from canvassing board meetings, along with some other extremists. Some may believe these people are expressing free speech and doing what they think is right, but to hear Link describe it, they’ve made it difficult for those working at the SOE to do their jobs. They’ve repeatedly shown up, asked the same questions over and over again, and gone on tirades when the answers haven’t satisfied them.
Additionally, Buongiorno supporters have posted threats on social media. For those who would like to know what Link has endured, Link has blocked Buongiorno, but look at X and judge for yourself. The bombshell revelation is that Buongiorno has filed numerous lawsuits against Link, seemingly without thought about who has to pay to fight them. You, the taxpayers, are paying for these lawsuits. Lawyers aren’t cheap.

In 2019, Ava Parker, the president of Palm Beach State College, told the Sun Sentinel that Link uses her analytical skills from twenty-plus years of practicing law to examine all sides of an issue. Link “sees big issues and also sees solutions to big issues.” She went on to say that Link is a friend to both parties.
Business leader George Elmore had complete confidence in her abilities as well. He served with Link on the Economic Council. Well-known Republican activist Sid Dinerstein supported her and said that at one time, he had hoped she’d run for a city council position in Palm Beach Gardens. He continues to support her and mentioned to Florida Jolt that Link is one of the “picks” for 2024 on his “Sid’s Picks,” a voter guide he sends out to residents seeking guidance on who to vote for. Llwyd Ecclestone is one of the many prominent Republicans who endorse Link along with John R. Smith, Florida Jolt owner Jack Furnari, Dale Hedrick, Scott Hawkins, Phil Ward, Pam Rauch, Jeff Atwater, Don Kiselewski, Ken Tuma, Sugar Cane Growers, Verdex, Ranger Construction, Mark Elhilow, Don Dufresne, and Tom Grady. Prominent trusted organizations such as BIZPAC, the Economic Council, Police and Fire, and various Chambers of Commerce also endorse Link.
Vote by Mail is currently underway. Palm Beach County has many big decisions to make. It is up to voters to decide how they want the country, the state, and the county to be run. The election is November 5th.
