Michael O’Rourke-The Visionary Leader Lake Park Deserves

Good news for the up-and-coming town of Lake Park, Florida: Michael O’Rourke, an attorney, musician, long-time commissioner, and one-time mayor of Lake Park, who retired from office in 2022, is back, ready to rock and is again running for the Lake Park commission.

Lake Park former Mayor and Commission Candidate Michael O’Rourke

Attorney Michael O’Rourke is a long-time Palm Beach County resident who graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University, raised his family in Palm Beach Gardens, and moved to a waterfront home in Lake Park, a small town in Palm Beach County with just under 9,000 residents. He fell in love with the place and saw the potential and charm of his newfound town. Recognizing Lake Park needed a new vision and leadership; he ran for city Commission in March of 2013. His priority was the same then as it is now: safety. He became mayor in 2017 and worked on revitalizing a warehouse district on the water to turn it into a luxury residential area. Under his leadership, others saw that Lake Park, a diamond in the rough, had significant potential and responsible development, great for the town, began.

O’Rourke gave Lake Park effective leadership and encouraged development in the long-neglected town to bring economic growth to the area and new job opportunities for long-time residents. A new multimillion-dollar waterfront condo next to a marina, with every luxury amenity you can think of, including a David Burke restaurant described as a “coastal dining experience” called Seahawk Prime, has broken ground. The building, named Nautilus 220, is expected to finish construction in April 2025. Other developments are also in the works.

O’Rourke was mayor until his resignation in 2022. During his short time away, he saw that his town, on the brink of massive revitalization, still needed his leadership to make it the place to live, work, and play in Palm Beach County. Retirement wasn’t his gig. He is now practicing law again, and he’s decided to run and serve again as a commissioner. Between the new growth and the potential to completely revamp a sleepy downtown, O’Rourke’s experience and leadership are what growing Lake Park needs now.

O’Rourke has been a fantastic representative for the town. In addition to being an attorney, he plays piano and guitar and sings. He can be seen performing with his rock band, Neverglades, representing Lake Park with professionalism, warmth, and humor. O’Rourke is one of the reasons Lake Park has an art district, which he would like to see continue to grow. His commitment to Lake Park has been evident with over a decade of service to his community, and he’s been sorely missed. Luckily for residents, his next election is on March 11, 2025.

The way voting works in Lake Park is unusual. The commission comprises four commissioners and one mayor, all with equal voting rights. The four commission seats are up for re-election. Six people are running for the four seats. Every registered Lake Park voter can vote and will see all six candidates on their ballot, but each voter can only vote for one of the six candidates. The four candidates with the most votes are the winners. The Lake Park Commission election is one of those races where every vote truly matters. If you live in Lake Park, get out and vote on March 11, 2025, and make sure your vote goes to Michael O’Rourke, a faithful public servant. With O’Rourke in office, Lake Park will be the real winner.
