Matt Gaetz-‘Nobody Wants to Buy Beer From Lizzo’

Florida Representative Matt Gaetz slammed Miller Light’s recent decision to apologize and discontinue using bikini-clad models in ads, contrasting it to using rapper Lizzo to sell beer instead.

The congressman shared his views during the Tuesday night edition of Chris Plante The Right Squad on Newsmax, where the co-hosts discussed Miller Lite’s resurfaced ad from March showing the brand apologizing for using bikini-clad models in advertisements of the past.

In the ad released to celebrate Women’s History Month, comedian Ilana Glazer acts as a spokeswoman for the company. She notes that women were amongst the first people to brew beer in history. “Centuries later, how did the industry pay homage to the founding mothers of beer? They put us in bikinis,” Glazer said, referencing the iconic Miller Lite posters featuring bikini-clad models with disdain.” Look at this s***! Wild!” she said.

“It’s time beer made it up to women,’ the Broad City star continued. ‘So today, Miller Lite is on a mission to clean up not just their s*** but the whole beer industry’s s***.”
Glazer detailed Miller Light’s campaign to destroy its old marketing materials and convert them into compost for female hops farmers to be sent to female brewers.

Glazer encouraged those watching to send in any of Miller’s old advertising material as part of the initiative.

“There’s definitely more s*** out there, in your attic, in your garage, in your parents’ basement. Send any s*** you have to Miller Lite, and they’ll turn that into good s***, too,” Glazer pledged.

Elizabeth Hitch, who runs Miller Light’s advertising, explained the purpose of the new direction.

“To honor this, we wanted to acknowledge the missteps in representation of women in beer advertising by cleaning up not just our s*** but the whole industry’s s***.”

Gaetz was not impressed with the new strategy, likening it to Anheuser-Busch’s recent disastrous decision to partner with trans activist Dylan Mulvaney. To Gaetz, both companies are showing disdain for the values and preferences of their customers.

“I’ve already had to apologize to the ethics committee for enough, but what I would suggest here is that we watched Anheuser-Busch like torch their valuation, and now Miller Lite is saying quite literally, ‘Hold my beer.’ As we go down that same path. And I don’t think it’s crazy to say that good-looking women in bikinis sell beer. Like, nobody wants to buy beer from Lizzo,”

Democratic political analyst Jason Nichols pushed back, “I think Lizzo is attractive, but either way –”

“Are you buying beer from her?” Gaetz retorted.

“I’m not buying beer based on somebody in a bikini anyway. I’m buying beer based on whether it’s a good beer,” Nichols said. “You have never bought a beer based on how a person looks in an ad.”

“I wish that were true,” Gaetz said, “I wish I were that good a person.”
