Man Leads Cops on Chase in Stolen School Bus, With Dead Deer in Back, While Naked

Pennsylvania Man Tony Saunders, 24, is in the York County, Pennsylvania Jail after leading cops on a multi-county chase in a stolen school bus. Saunders achieved a hat trick by doing it while naked, with a dead deer in the back of the bus.

On Monday night, Saunders stole the bus in Abbottstown after crashing a BMW earlier in the day. The bus was reported stolen, and a BOLO (Be On The Lookout) was issued.

A Carroll Township Police officer spotted the stolen bus shortly before 8 a.m. on Tuesday as it drove through the GIANT Foods and Rite Aid parking lot on Route 15. The officer got in behind the bus as it pulled out of the parking lot and attempted a traffic stop.

The bus pulled over near the junction of the Pennsylvania Turnpike but immediately pulled away and continued to drive north on Route 15.

No children were on board the bus, but that was unknown at the time, according to Chief Thomas Wargo of the Carroll Township Police Department.

“Not only is it a felony because it’s a vehicle, but the new part you add into it now, were there any children inside? Did the male stop to pick up any children?” “None of that was known at the time.”

Police said Saunders then drove the bus off a roadway and down an embankment in Lower Allen Township, nearly overturning the vehicle.

The bus continued driving onto Gettysburg Road in Lower Allen Township and turned into a nearby neighborhood.

Saunders then bailed out and fled on foot through a wooded area. He was caught along a nearby railroad track and was taken into custody.

“No one was injured, no officers were injured, no one from the public was injured, and the defendant in the case was not injured either,” said Chief Wargo.

Police said Saunders was completely nude at the time of his capture. Officers who searched the bus found the carcass of a deer in the back, according to police.

After his arrest, Saunders admitted to stealing the bus earlier in the day after crashing a BMW vehicle. Saunders also faces charges for a police chase where he fled from Pennsylvania Troopers while driving a Black BMW SUV early Tuesday morning.

Saunders also said he had taken the vehicle and placed a deceased deer in the back. He told officers he would use the deer as fertilizer for his garden.

Carroll Township Police transported Saunders to York County Central Booking for arraignment charges of fleeing and eluding police, receiving stolen property, and reckless driving.
