Law Enforcement Union Boss Slams Bragg, Says He Created a ‘Zoo Atmosphere’ – Handled Trump Indictment Badly

The head of a court officer’s union representing 1,500 employees blasted Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg due to his alleged mishandling of the coming indictment of former President Donald Trump.

Dennis Quirk, the President of the New York State Court Officers Association (NYSCOA), said that he would ‘personally’ hold Bragg responsible if law enforcement officers were injured due to his poor handling of the indictment.

‘I will personally hold him responsible if anybody is injured as a result of this circus atmosphere that he’s created,’ Quirk said.

Quirk believes that Bragg’s office leaked information about Trump’s coming indictment, potentially creating a ‘zoo atmosphere’ that could put law enforcement officers in harm’s way as hundreds have already been deployed in anticipation of Trump’s arraignment.

‘If anybody is hurt, whether it’s law enforcement or a member of the public, it sits on Bragg’s lap because he’s created this zoo atmosphere by releasing the information last week about them meeting to discuss the indictment.’ Quirk said.

He accused the Manhattan DA of carrying out a publicity stunt due to his choice to publicly arraign Trump and leak to the media rather than privately arraigning him over Zoom.

‘I think it’s in the interest of the safety of everyone involved. His people, my people, the NYPD, the general public, and the press. But the DA, he doesn’t want that. He wants the publicity.

Others have accused Bragg of using the Trump indictment to gain publicity.

‘He could have done this very quietly,’ Quirk continued. ‘He could have gotten the indictment, then called Trump’s lawyers, and they could have snuck him in. We didn’t need to have this mass hysteria.’

Quirk also discussed the high cost to New York taxpayers in overtime for police and the disruption in the city due to barriers erected to escort Trump.

‘Look at the amount of overtime it’s generating now. Look at the amount of inconvenience it’s causing with the barriers all over downtown.’

Hundreds of riot police have been deployed to prepare for the indictment, and videos have shown dozens of steel barriers being erected around Manhattan.

‘The drumbeat leading up to this is going to cause nothing but trouble on the streets,’ he added.

Quirk further warned that Bragg publicizing the indictment days or weeks before it happened could harm New York law enforcement officers bodily.

‘It’s just media and police now, but that could quickly change,’ said Quirk. The problem is, it’s not organized people you have to worry about so much. It’s the loners.

He even expressed concern that a member of the NYPD, a court officer, or a press member could get shot.

‘You get a loner in the crowd who pulls out a gun and starts shooting people. I mean, Trump’s not going to get f**king hit. But some member of the press, NYPD, a court officer, one of us could.’ He said.

While Trump was initially supposed to be indicted on Tuesday, Bragg canceled a grand jury hearing today after one of his star witnesses came under fire on Monday.
