Kamala VP Pick Signed ‘Disturbing’ Pro Pedo Bill
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who was named Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate this week, once signed off on a bill removing anti-pedophile language from the state’s Human Rights Act.
In May 2023, Walz enacted the Minnesota Judiciary and Public Safety Bill, which included the controversial ‘Take Pride Act’ introduced by state representative Leigh Finke. The act also revised the Minnesota Human Rights Act, specifically removing language that excluded “physical attraction to children” from the state’s protected class of sexual orientation.
Finke, a transgender-identifying male, claimed that the language excluding pedophilia “never should have been included” and told reporters that the section used “outdated language that incorrectly ties pedophilia to a person’s sexual orientation.” Despite objections from Republicans, lawmakers ultimately kept the revision, which Walz later approved.
Finke was also a sponsor of the state’s 2023 ‘Trans Refuge Bill,’ granting legal protection to doctors who perform sex-change procedures on minors without parental consent. Finke is notably a close ally of Governor Walz.

The Minnesota Human Rights Act has been in effect since 1967 and has been described by the state’s Human Rights Department as “one of the strongest civil rights laws in the country.” It prohibits discrimination “in different areas such as employment, housing, and education on the basis of protected class such as race, religion, and disability.”
The law’s text previously included a caveat that specifically excluded pedophilia from the protected class of sexual orientation, in effect blocking any possible pro-pedophile legislation.
“…having or being perceived as having an emotional, physical, or sexual attachment to another person without regard to the sex of that person or having or being perceived as having an orientation for such attachment, or having or being perceived as having a self-image or identity not traditionally associated with one’s biological maleness or femaleness.
Sexual orientation’ does not include a physical or sexual attachment to children by an adult.”
Last year, Florida Jolt reported that the exception had been removed in a decision described as “disturbing” by Republican lawmakers.
“Under the Human Rights Act, the definition of sexual orientation says that sexual orientation does not include physical or sexual attraction to children by an adult — or, more simply described, pedophilia,” GOP House Minority Leader Lisa Demuth told Fox News at the time. “The Democrats’ decision to strike this language is disturbing and inexplicable.”

After Walz signed the Take Pride Act, the Minnesota Department of Human Rights stated that the law would help “clarify critical protections for LGBTQIA+ Minnesotans.” The department made no mention of the amendment removing anti-pedophile language but praised the act for “removing outdated and prejudicial language from the Minnesota Human Rights Act.”
Harris selected Walz as her Vice Presidential running mate on Tuesday. He is a former school teacher and member of Congress from Minnesota’s first district.
In the November 5 general election, he will face former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH).
