Kamala Bombs Her First Solo Interview – ‘Doesn’t Answer the Question’
Vice President Kamala Harris floundered in her latest interview with MSNBC, after getting hit with a series of brutal fact checks by host Stephanie Ruhle. The network appearance was Harris’s first solo interview since launching her Presidential campaign.
Despite the friendly nature of the interview, even Ruhle was surprised by Harris’s inability to answer basic questions, later giving a scathing critique of the Vice President. “She doesn’t answer the question,” the host said on ‘Deadline: White House’ after the interview.
“If the GOP is controlling the Senate, if she can’t raise corporate taxes, where is she going to get the money from to expand the child tax credit and do whatever she wants to do. And she says, ‘we just have to do it,’” Ruhle said. “That’s great and that’s a campaign promise, but the issue is, if it means we’re gonna just borrow again, then what we’re doing is we’re just never addressing the deficit. And back in the days when you were a proud Republican, debts and deficits matters.”
Ruhle, who just last week defended Harris on ‘Real Time with Bill Maher,’ lost much of her goodwill after meeting her. The interview consisted of a lot of joking and banter between the two, with Ruhle at one point asking Harris about her time working at McDonald’s. But when it was time to ask questions about the country, Harris bristled.

“If you can’t raise corporate taxes… where do you get the money to do that?” Ruhle asked about Harris’s plan for a child tax credit. “Do you still go forward with those plans and borrow?”
“Well, we’re gonna have to raise,” Harris stuttered. “That’s just it. It’s about [billionaires] paying their fair share.”
Ruhle then pressed Harris on her plan to bring down prices, ”How do you go after price gouging without implementing price controls?”
“Yes, I’m going to go after them,” Harris replied, offering no explanation.

Ruhle occasionally pushed back against some of Harris’s statements. After Harris tried to claim that “Donald Trump left us with the worst economy since the Great Depression,” Ruhle responded.
“It was during COVID and employment was so high because we shut down the government, we shut down the country,” the host said. Harris then falsely claimed that 200,000 manufacturing jobs were lost prior to the pandemic — in fact they had increased by more than 450,000.
Ruhle also took exception with Harris’s claim that the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act only benefitted the wealthy and corporations. “He didn’t just cut corporate taxes, he cut individual taxes,” Ruhle said.
On Sep. 19, the New York Post reported that Harris was on track to give the fewest sit down interviews of any Presidential nominee in history. Since launching her campaign, Harris has made just 7 appearances including her interview with Ruhle.
By comparison, Trump has granted three times as many in the same two-month timespan, according to the Post.
