Jimmy Patronis: 2023 Session A Huge Win for Floridians!
This week, we closed out a very successful 2023 Legislative Session! This was a huge win for Floridians across our state, where we supported measures to help Florida families and businesses thrive. We passed historic legislation to ban ESG, to protect your investments, and businesses, from financial activism and woke political ideology. We locked TikTok out of our kids’ classrooms so they can focus on learning and further protect our data. We passed consumer protection measures to put policyholders first and stop bad actors following hurricanes and disasters. We also passed vital measures to support Florida’s brave first responders so they have the tools needed to protect our communities and save lives.

On Wednesday, I was thrilled to announce the return of more than $31 million in unclaimed property back into the pockets of Florida families and businesses in the month of April. I am proud to highlight the great work my team has done to return every cent of unclaimed property back to its rightful owner. I encourage every Floridian to search now for unclaimed property for yourself, your friends, your loved ones, and even your business at FLTreasureHunt.gov.

Lastly, on Thursday, I highlighted Hurricane Preparedness Week during the 2023 Hurricane Awareness Tour with the National Weather Service (NOAA) at the Tallahassee International Airport. Last year, we saw one of the most destructive storms in the history of our state in Hurricane Ian. Many Floridians are still dealing with the long-term effects of this massive storm, and this should serve as a reminder to us all to be prepared before the next hurricane takes aim at our state.
