Jordan was arrested Sunday afternoon after he allegedly whipped out an 18-inch machete at the Tavern after his request to sing another karaoke song was denied by a tavern employee, deputies said.

“Apparently, our friend Mr. Jordan here didn’t fully understand the rules of karaoke, as when the stage lights turned off, he tried to force them back on by pulling out a machete he had concealed on him and demanding to do an encore!!” the Sheriff’ Ivey said.

According to the arrest affidavit, an employee at the tavern convinced Jordan to hand over the machete.

Responding deputies said they found Jordan with bloodshot and glassy eyes, smelling of alcohol, and having difficulty standing. Jordan, who appeared “extremely intoxicated,” told deputies that he keeps the machete on him “because he always needs to stay alert,” according to the sheriff’s office.

“Unfortunately, Jordan’s actions didn’t earn him another song on stage, but they did win him a trip to ‘Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge’ where every night is open mic night, and he can sing any song he wants all night long!!” the sheriff’s office said.

Sheriff Ivey continued to make comments about Jordan on the Sheriff’s Facebook page, stating,

There is no question that Elvis Presley’s “Jail House Rock” is a top karaoke song…. but for Travis Jordan, it’s the only song he’ll be singing while sitting in “Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge”!!

Jordan was charged with Breach of Peace-Disorderly Conduct, and I heard his topmost requested songs during open mic night were…” Cuts Like a Knife” by Bryan Adams, “Back on The Chain Gang” by the Pretenders, “Folsom Prison Blues” by Johnny Cash, “Prisoner of Love” by James Brown, and Junny’s personal favorite, “Ol’ Red” by Blake Shelton!!
