‘Back Room Dealing’: Musk Rips DNC for Not Holding Primary Debates
In response to news that the Democratic National Committee has no plans to host any Democratic Party primary debates in the upcoming presidential election, Twitter owner Elon Musk declared that his platform will remain an open forum and support the campaign messages from all 2024 presidential candidates.

However, Musk wasn’t the only prominent voice condemning the move. Biden’s primary challenger, Robert Kennedy Jr., ripped the move as supporting concerns surrounding election fairness and integrity that arose during the 202 election cycle.

“When you have so many Americans who are concerned about election integrity, we should be doing everything we can in our party to show that, you know, this is not rigged, rigged system,” he said. “That it is actually democracy… people can run and that they can get to debate and that the public is gonna be able to see them, and they’re doing kind of the opposite. There are too many Americans who already think that the whole system is rigged against them. And this is confirmation of that. And I think that’s troubling.”
Even Cenk Uygur, a host on the left-wing news outlet The Young Turks, spoke out against the decision.
“DNC has already announced that it will not allow any debates in 2024 primary. Biden is not to be challenged. Everyone on the Democratic side must shut up and fall in line. Not having debates is undemocratic and ridiculous. No progressive should agree to this kind of power grab.”

The tweet grabbed Musk’s attention, responding, “Wow.” Twitter account, The Rabbit Hole, replied to Musk, suggesting the billionaire host presidential debates himself on Twitter.
Twitter should host debates of challenging candidates

When The Rabbit Hole retweeted Uygur’s condemnation, It reiterated its call to action to Musk.
“@elonmusk please consider hosting political debates on Twitter. Any candidate that backs out should not be taken seriously.”
This prompted Musk to respond again, claiming the decision was the result of “back room dealing.” The billionaire also promised to “support candidates. This could be a boilerplate promise against censorship or entertaining the notion of hosting debates, as suggested.

“We will do our best to support candidates from all parties, so that the public may make the most informed choice. Far too much back room dealing seems to be happening.”

Aside from his statements to the press, RFK Jr laid out the differences between him and Biden on Twitter as part of his argument for why debates should have happened.
“I have known and liked Joe Biden for many years, but we differ profoundly on fundamental issues such as corporate influence in government, censorship, civil liberties, poverty, corruption, and war policy, among others. I look forward to engaging him in debates and town hall meetings, in a primary election that is honest, civil, and transparent. I invite him into a new era of respectful dialog in these times of division. #Kennedy24″
The Biden administration is riddled with Neocons, war hawks, Wall Street people, and former corporate lobbyists. That's what the party elite has become. But I know the rank-and-file — and the American people as a whole — don't share their priorities. It's time to return our party…

Musk chimed in support of RFK here as well, saying, “You and other candidates deserve that opportunity!”
