Alec Baldwin Roasted for Gun Control Post – ‘Read the Room… Sit This One Out’
Actor Alec Baldwin is facing blowback this week after posting about gun control on his social media–while he is currently standing trial for the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The actor reposted a call for “tight gun control legislation” after the Nashville school shooting, during which six people, including three children, were killed. Baldwin, 64, is charged with involuntary manslaughter and faces up to 18 months in prison if found guilty.
Baldwin shared comments from musician Peter Frampton, who Tweeted on Monday,
“26 years ago, a gunman entered Dunblane Primary School in Scotland, killing 16 kids and a teacher. The UK govt responded by enacting tight gun control legislation. In the 9400+ days since, there have been a total of O school shootings in the UK.”

Baldwin, a longtime Democrat activist famous for lampooning President Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live, reposted Frampton’s statement on Instagram without comment. While the actor had no words to offer, the same could not be said for the thousands of users who replied to the post.
“Is the guy that killed someone with a gun, lecturing people on gun violence? Well I guess he has first hand knowledge,” one person wrote.
“Read the room Alec. You are unbelievable,” said another.
“You shot and killed someone with a prop gun you mismanaged, and dare advocate to remove an American right to protect oneself.”
Other commenters called out Baldwin’s hypocrisy by writing simply: “Kettle, pot.”
“It’s a mental health problem, not a gun problem! If Alec had any firearm training, that poor mother/wife would be alive today!”
Baldwin locked the comments on his post after the blowback began, but news of the actor’s hypocrisy spread to Twitter, where users continued to weigh in.
“Alec Baldwin, the guy that shot and killed people with a gun Alec Baldwin posting gun control messages on his Instagram account is the kind of absolute psychopathic freak show with gobs of unrepentant narcissism that’s emblematic of most of Hollywood and entertainment.”

“Alec Baldwin posted a message on instagram talking about gun control measures. Just waiting for OJ to weigh in on domestic violence & Michael Vick talking about ways to protect your animals.”

Baldwin was filming the Western film “Rust” in 2021 when he was given a prop gun loaded with a live bullet. The actor pulled the trigger and shot the movie’s cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, who died from her injuries. Baldwin claims to have been unaware that the gun was loaded with live ammunition.

Baldwin is currently standing trial for manslaughter and faces 18 months in prison if convicted. He has pled not guilty.
His gun control post on Instagram follows the mass shooting of The Covenant School in Nashville, which left six people dead. The shooter, 28-year-old transgender Audrey Hale, had previously attended the Christian elementary school and killed three children. Police say that Hale was motivated by”resentment” for having been a student at the Christian academy.
