20 Supporters Seated Behind Trump Rushed to ER With ‘Chemical Burns’

As many as twenty supporters of former President Donald Trump were hospitalized this week after suffering severe burns to their eyes during an Arizona rally. The supporters, mostly members of the ‘Latinos for Trump’ group, were reportedly seated to the left of Trump during his speech. They were forced to seek medical attention after the event after experiencing eye pains, blurry vision, and face swelling.

The mysterious string of cases was first reported by the Arizona Globe on Tuesday. It is not currently known what caused the injuries.

Among those affected were Pastor Eli Moreno, who delivered the rally’s opening prayer, and his wife Francesca. The Globe wrote that Francesca suffered “severe” symptoms shortly after leaving, including blurry vision and swelling. After arriving at a pharmacy to look for help, she reportedly encountered another rallygoer with the same symptoms.

Francesca Moreno was later treated in the emergency room, and began to see improvement after five days. Other rallygoers have not been as fortunate.

“Mayra Rodriguez, another attendee, also fell ill 30 minutes after leaving the rally, experiencing burning eyes and a severe headache,” the Globe reported. “By the time she arrived at the emergency room, she could no longer open her eyes. After performing a dye test, the doctor informed her that she had suffered a chemical burn. Days later, she continued suffering from blurry vision and light sensitivity.”

In a statement posted to X on Wednesday, Pastor Moreno concurred with the theory that he and his wife had suffered chemical burns. He speculated that the rally had been the target of a “chemical attack.”

“Exactly what I believe, because we were seated stage right, which is where Trump made his entrance and they knew he would shake our hands, which he did,” Moreno said. “Thank God he wasn’t affected.”

By the end of the evening, the nearby emergency room was receiving numerous patients who had sustained eye injuries during the rally.

“Several other attendees shared similar stories with The Arizona Globe. The reported symptoms, including blurred vision, severe eye pain, and facial swelling, appeared roughly 30 minutes after the rally ended. One attendee used milk to ease the burning before heading to the hospital, while another reported his face turning red and peeling. They stated that the emergency room staff told them they were not alone—multiple patients from the rally had come in with the same complaints.”

A spokesman for the Trump campaign later issued a statement in support of the attendees, and said they were “collecting information” on the incident.

“We remain committed to the countless patriots that attend our high-energy, high-impact rallies across the country.”
