Washington State to Take Children From Parents- Gender Transition, or Abortion Refusal

On Monday, Governor Jay Inslee signed Senate Bill 5599, introduced by State Sen. Marko Liias, allowing the state to legally remove children from their parents if they don’t consent to their child’s gender transition surgeries or abortion.

Washington state’s current law requires that any youth shelter where a runaway minor must notify their parents or guardians within 24 to 72 hours. However, there’s an exception not to tell the parents or legal guardians if they have “compelling reasons” to believe that doing so would put the kid in danger of abuse or neglect. Under 5599, this exception has been broadened to include parents who do not sign off on gender transition surgeries or abortions.

This means that the law will allow the government to hide the whereabouts of runaway children who claim to be seeking sex changes or abortions from their parents.

Senator Liias, who sponsored the bill, made this clear in one of his statements on the matter, referring to children as “our,” using the term “trans youth,” and equating parental resistance to abortion or transition as being not “safe.”

“Every child – including our trans youth – deserves to be safe at home. In a perfect world, that is the case, but unfortunately, that is not the reality. This legislation affirms our commitment to ensuring children have a safe and stable place to go when they are not welcome at home.”

It should be noted that most minors with gender dysphoria grow out of it by adulthood, ranging from 64% to 98%.

Radio Host Ari Hoffman tweeted that Governor Inslee signed the bill privately to avoid the protest.

“- Cowardly Inslee is signing SB 5599 in private so no one can protest state-sanctioned kidnapping of children”

Lilias also claimed that this was part of Washington’s more accepting reputation.

“Washington has long been a place where members of the LGBTQ+ community are welcome and embraced,” Liias said. “As other states across the country introduce and pass legislation to take their rights away, we here in Washington are sending a clear signal: we hear you, we see you and we love you.”

While Lilias did not name any constitutional or natural rights being revoked, recent legislation from Florida has been characterized as taking rights away. The Parental Rights in Education Act prevents teachers from discussing sexual orientation and gender with high school students and younger. Other bills prevent sexually explicit drag shows or other exhibitions from being accessed by minors. Why Lilias views these restrictions as a revocation of rights is anyone’s guess.
