Palm Beach County Republicans to Rally for Freedom and Against Hate

Edwin Ferguson of the Palm Beach County School Board should be man enough to apologize for his ignorant and hateful statement about Charlie Kirk, but he isn’t. Instead, he’s whining like a baby and calling on the NAACP to defend him from racists because he got some nasty, threatening emails.

Welcome to the club, Ferguson. I  get nasty emails all the time. I got my first death threat in the year 2000. Not that anyone should threaten violence, because they shouldn’t, but didn’t you just say, “Hey, I’m sorry that he’s died, that he passed away, but he did not use his voice effectively.”

Do you think comparing Charlie Kirk to Hitler and the Holocaust and calling Kirk a racist is using your voice effectively? Does the hate you spewed excuse someone threatening your life, never mind taking it? Of course it doesn’t. So, man up, admit you were wrong and spoke in haste, and move on with your life.

This isn’t going away, not for Ferguson or the rest of the Palm Beach School Board.

Below are two flyers with phone numbers to call and information about a rally at the School Board meeting on Oct. 15 at 4 p.m.

Last month, Ferguson said in his opening remarks:

But I also want to speak to our African-American brothers and sisters as well. And the reason I want to do that is because in these last couple of days, I’ve received a number of contacts in regard to concern about teachers who are fearful of losing their teaching certificates because of this comments that they made in regard to a gentleman by the name of Charlie Kirk, who until the last week I knew nothing of. But in researching him, um, I feel, let me say this. So, there’s a letter that came from the DOE to the superintendent cautioning all superintendents to caution their staff to be careful about what they say because they could ultimately lose their teaching certificates because if students and parents feel that the comment of the teacher somehow makes them feel bad, um then there could be some consequences and repercussions on that. And so my thought was I looked at the the statues and the the administrative rules that were referenced in this September 11th um letter from DOE and I’m thinking unless you as a parent or you as a teacher feel bad because I as a teacher don’t miss a racist a racist bigot at that I don’t see how you’re going to be at risk of losing your teaching certificate. Um so you know when we talk about the Holocaust I’ve yet to hear a person of the Jewish faith say that I miss Adolf Hitler. He said a very a lot of toxic things that were very undermining to society at large and we want to never forget that and we want to be better than that. The things that I’ve heard from this gentleman, Mr. Kirk, as it relates to the black experience here in the country are definitely things that would make me say, “Hey, I’m sorry that he’s died, that he passed away, but he did not use his voice effectively.” So that’s my two cents on that. So teachers, say what you need to say, but just be respectful and don’t say it in a discriminatory way against him or anyone else who might be offended. Thank you. Thank you, …~Edwin Ferguson

No one knows what kind of “research” Ferguson did, but it couldn’t have been much, and Ferguson doesn’t speak for the black community.

Ferguson must not have seen these videos, and there are hundreds just like them.
