MTG Roasts Democrats As ‘Party of Pedophiles’ in Epic ’60 Minutes’ Clip

Firebrand Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) took a torch to the Democrat Party in a Sunday ’60 Minutes’ interview that left host Lesley Stahl speechless. During the wide-ranging interview, Greene tackled topics including the Ukraine War and the Republican establishment but especially stunned the audience by referring to the left wing as a “party of pedophiles.”

“The Democrats are a party of pedophiles,” Stahl repeated during the interview, prompting Greene to respond. In a voiceover, the liberal host described the Georgia representative’s comments as “over the top,” but Greene stood by her words.

“I would definitely say so. They support grooming children,” she responded.

“They are not pedophiles. Why would you say that?” Stahl asked.

Green retorted, defiant,

“Even Joe Biden, the president himself, supports children being sexualized and having transgender surgeries. Sexualizing children is what pedophiles do to children.”

Stahl was left speechless. “Wow, okay,” she said after a brief silence.

Stahl has faced a mountain of criticism before and after the interview airing, but not from Republicans.

“I have known Lesley Stahl for more than forty years, worked alongside her for many election weeks,” Norman Ornstein of The Atlantic wrote on Twitter. “But this is a disgraceful, cringeworthy performance. Shameful to the max.”

Liberal heads exploded across social media, with Democrat activist Victor Shi writing,

“I respect Leslie Stahl. But that interview she just did with Marjorie Taylor Greene was truly terrible… What I just saw right there is the literal definition of normalizing fascism & right-wing extremism. I’m concerned.”

Others, including MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan and NBC News’ Ben Collins, condemned 60 Minutes for giving a platform to Greene. Hasan accused the program of legitimizing Greene’s “crazy and dangerous assertion” that the Democrat Party has endorsed pedophilia. Journalists especially appeared outraged by the idea of extending equal coverage to both sides of the aisle.

While Stahl butted heads with Greene at various interview points, her narration nonetheless described the congresswoman as “smart and fearless.”

“Can’t you fight for what you believe in without all that name-calling and without the personal attacks?” Stahl asked Greene later in the interview.

Greene responded,

“Well, I would ask the same question to the other side, because all they’ve done is call me names and insult me non-stop since I’ve been here, Lesley. They call me racist. They call me sen, anti-Semitic, which is not true.  I’m not calling anyone names. I’m calling out the truth basically.”

Later, Greene also explained what led her to enter the political arena four years ago,

“What made me run for Congress when I saw the Republicans in Congress, the House and the Senate, completely fail to deliver the agenda that we had all voted for, the reasons why we voted for Donald Trump. It was… Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham… Mitt Romney. I’m not even sure why he calls himself a Republican.”
