Michael Dorstewitz: New York: ‘Come for Communism, Stay for Jihad’

Zohran Mamdani, the communist darling of the Left and the New York City mayoral frontrunner, may have overplayed his hand Tuesday — the second anniversary of the brutal Palestinian terrorist attack on southern Israel’s civilian population.

On October 7, 2023, terrorists swarmed Israel from Gaza by land, air, and sea.

Roughly 1,200 civilians of all ages were murdered, including 46 Americans. They slaughtered entire families — children in front of their parents, parents in front of their children. Women were raped and mutilated.

These are not civilized people.

Mamdani released a statement recognizing the atrocities of October 7. He described the assault as a “horrific war crime” and claimed he mourned the deaths. That was his first two sentences, and it would have been fine had he left it there.

Instead, he dedicated the next three paragraphs to condemning Israel for defending itself in the war that Hamas Palestinians initiated in Gaza.

It’s as though he separated the first two sentences from the last three paragraphs with the word “but.” Everything before the “but” can be disregarded.

“In the aftermath of that day, Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Israeli government launched a genocidal war,” Mamdani said.

It’s akin to Japan complaining that the United States launched a war on them in response to Japan’s December 7, 1941, unprovoked surprise attack on Pearl Harbor.

In the paragraph that followed, Mamdani repeated the tired old trope that Israel is an occupying force that engages in “apartheid” and “war crimes.” He added that the U.S. “government has been complicit through it all.”

He called for peace to “be pursued through diplomacy,” but statements like that have a hollow ring, especially given Mamdani’s reaction to the October 7 assault.

One day after the massacre, he released a similar statement, placing the blame entirely on Israel, which came to the attention of Sen. Ted Cruz.

“ON OCTOBER 8, he couldn’t bring himself to condemn Hamas, the murder of 1200 Jews, or the rape of women & little girls,” the Texas Republican observed.

“Instead, he just…blamed Israel. On October 8.”

In December, shortly after he announced his mayoral candidacy, Mamdani held that same view.

“As mayor, New York City would arrest Benjamin Netanyahu,” he told an interviewer. “This is a city that our values are in line with international law. It’s time that our actions are also.”

Mamdani’s blaming of Israel, combined with the fact that he’s the frontrunner in the New York mayoral race, makes one wonder if New Yorkers have forgotten their own recent history — specifically the Islamic terror attack of September 11, 2001.

The nation had just observed the 24th anniversary of that attack less than four weeks earlier, prompting one X user to ask, “Has New York forgotten its history?”

He attached an image of Mamdani standing in front of the burning World Trade Center’s twin towers, along with this message: “I can give you 2,296 reasons not to elect a radical Muslim as NYC mayor.”

However, more than his dedication to Islam, Mamdani is best known for his commitment to communism.

He always corrects anyone who calls him a communist and claims instead that he’s actually a Democratic Socialist. But his plans for “free” public transportation and city-owned grocery stores make it pretty clear — he’s a commie.

He would pay for these and other “goodies” by taxing the wealthy into oblivion — or, in this case, into Boca Raton, Florida.

That combination — communism and radical Islam — prompted The Rubin Report’s Dave Rubin to make the most clever comment about the Big Apple’s likely future: “Come for the communism, stay (against your will) for the Jihad.”

Zohran “Jihad Commie” Mamdani has a certain ring to it.

On Tuesday, November 4, New Yorkers will go to the polls to elect their next mayor. We hope voters will come to their senses before then and elect anyone but Mamdani.

But if they don’t, they should place Rubin’s catchphrase on their license plates.

“New York: Come for the Communism, Stay for the Jihad.”
