Mandami’s Win-Great News for Florida Real Estate

Mandami has been elected mayor of New York City, and the chatter in Florida real estate circles is louder than a Boca brunch crowd. This win could ignite yet another exodus of frustrated New Yorkers packing their bags and heading for the Sunshine State. After all, every time New York leans harder into progressive politics, Florida realtors quietly pop the champagne.

According to the U.S. Census, more than 125,000 New Yorkers relocated to Florida between 2023 and 2025 — and that was before Mandami’s victory. Mandami’s so-called “progressive platform” reads like a warning label for anyone who’s worked hard to get ahead. Higher taxes? Check. More regulation? Check. A “reimagined” police force? That’s liberal code for less law and order, more chaos. The people of New York said they wanted change. What they’re getting is the same old Marxist socialism with an extra helping of Jew hatred and a millennial black suit.

A day after the election, Mandami announced that he would be looking for people to run his transition team, and what was the first thing he asked for? Money. The candidate who promised free everything one day after his win is asking New Yorkers for their hard-earned dollars to make his unrealistic communist, Bernie Sanders/AOC/Ilhan Omar, dreams come true. Meanwhile, the “capitalists” he threatened with more taxes are already scrambling to get to Florida, the land of freedom—the new homeland.

South Florida, of course, stands to benefit the most. Palm Beach County has become Manhattan South, filled with hedge fund CEOs on Worth Avenue, Upper East Side moms at the Royal Poinciana Plaza, and entire New York firms relocating to West Palm, which is already being referred to as Wall Street South. North Palm Beach County is becoming the new Park Avenue, with brand-new, stunning high-rises featuring dream-worthy amenities and a low crime rate. Boca Raton and Delray Beach are becoming the new protected beacons of safety, boasting beautiful oceanfront property that, even at its highest, makes justifying the New York shoebox apartments seem like a joke. Best of all, no dirty, murderous subways! Miami remains the magnet for the tech and crypto crowd, while Naples and Sarasota are booming with retirees, entrepreneurs, and professionals who can now work remotely from the paradise of Florida. Tampa, once seen as a quieter Florida destination, is quickly shedding that image — its downtown developments and booming business scene are ready for their close-up.

But here’s the million-dollar question: will these new arrivals bring their politics with them? Floridians joke that we’ll take their money, but not their policies. And it’s not just a joke — the political shift is measurable. Many of these migrants, once considered reliably blue, are rethinking what security, fiscal sanity, and personal freedom mean. After trading rent-controlled mousetraps for backyard pools, these new Floridians are getting a taste of lower taxes and smaller government—and they’re liking it. That’s why Florida’s voter registration stats show a steady uptick in Republican and independent numbers compared to pre-2020 levels.

And then there’s the wildest twist of all: Andrew Cuomo, former New York governor, once joked that he’d move to Florida if he lost. Now that he’s lost again, will he actually show up? If he does, he won’t fit right in — Florida loves a comeback story almost as much as it loves good weather, but no one will forgive a granny killer. But suppose you see Andrew Cuomo, sipping a cortado at Sant Ambroeus or walking a Pomapoo on Worth Avenue, just living his best life, since he’s no longer in New York. In that case, people will be sure to say hello, because no one will recognize him, and happy Floridians are friendly. We leave the no eye contact, closing the elevator in someone’s face, to the New Yorkers. Floridians love to smile, and why not? Sunny weather, happy disposition.

The bottom line? Mandami’s win might be the best news Florida real estate has heard all year. While New York drifts deeper into a progressive downward spiral, Florida is thriving on freedom, low taxes, and common sense. For every resident who’s had enough of high crime, bad schools, and runaway costs, there’s a home waiting somewhere between Boca and Bonita Springs. Sunshine, sanity, and success never looked so good.
