Jane Fonda Says Her Call to ‘Murder’ Pro-Life Activists Just a ‘Passing Joke’
Hollywood liberal and Viet Cong darling Jane Fonda issued a non-apology on Friday after calling for pro-life activists to be “murdered.” The actress issued her violent call to action on a recent episode of “The View,” resulting in widespread condemnation. Fonda, however, justified her comments, saying that her critics are simply overreacting to “hyperbole.”
“While women’s reproductive rights are a very serious issue and extremely important to me, my comment on ‘The View’ was obviously made in jest,” Fonda told Fox News Digital in a statement. “My body language and tone made it clear to those in the room — and to anyone watching — that I was using hyperbole to make a point.”
“Women across the country are facing real threats when it comes to our bodies, and people lose faith in our mission to protect women when others choose to focus on tangential issues and passing jokes instead of the actual problem at hand.”

Fonda made her initial comments on Friday during a segment about the end of Roe v. Wade.
“We’re not going back,” Fonda said, challenging the ruling. “I don’t care what the laws are. We’re not going back.”
The panel initially hyped up Fonda’s comments, with co-host Sunny Hostin even suggesting that the actress deserved a Nobel Prize.
Then Joy Behar asked, “besides marching and protesting, what else do you suggest?”
“Well, it does involve murder,” Fonda replied.
Behar did a double-take and quickly tried to excuse the comments, which were too extreme even for the cast of The View.
“She’s kidding. Wait a second, she’s just kidding,” Behar said while Fonda shot her a disapproving glare.
The segment went viral almost immediately and was quickly denounced.
“Jane Fonda went on national television today and suggested that pro-life politicians should be murdered for trying to protect unborn children,” tweeted Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood director turned pro-life activist. “I guess she believes in killing people both in and out of the womb.”

“I have just notified Capitol Police of Jane Fonda’s call to murder pro-life politicians,” Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna said in a formal statement. “I expect both Fonda and The View to issue public retractions for giving such repugnant behavior a platform.”

“Shorter Jane Fonda: ‘Well, so long as SOMEONE gets murdered…’ Incitement, much?” Texas Rep. Chip Roy tweeted.

Fonda has long been an outspoken activist of leftist causes. In 1972, she infamously visited North Vietnam and was photographed with an anti-aircraft gun used to shoot down American pilots. The visit earned her the nickname “Hanoi Jane.”

Violence against pro-life individuals increased following the Supreme Court ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade last year. Since May, dozens of churches and pregnancy centers have been vandalized by abortion activists. Two Florida residents were indicted in January in connection to a string of attacks against several crisis pregnancy centers. Another man was arrested in July for attempting to assassinate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
