Get to Know Andrea Keiser: Delray Beach Commission Candidate

With the March 10, 2026, election for Delray Beach City Commission Seat 2—the vacancy left by State Rep. Rob Long—land-use attorney Andrea Keiser is running alongside challengers Judy Mollica and Delores Rangel. Let’s get to know this candidate who is passionate about smart growth, civility, and family priorities.

Candidate Andrea Keiser – City Commission Seat 2

What inspired you to run for a seat on the Delray Beach Commission?
My husband and I chose Delray with the intention of laying down our roots and building our home/family. We plan to stay here for the next 30 years. We see the success and opportunities in Delray, but we also see them squandered by mismanagement that will impact my children and our families.

I also have personal experience standing on the floor before the dais. We need qualified leaders who are accessible, listen to both sides of an issue, and exercise independent thought, make informed decisions with a citizens-first mentality, and exude professional and respectable leadership qualities.

Tell us a little about your story — where you grew up, what led you to your career, and how Public service became part of your path.
I am the first-generation daughter of an immigrant who came to America with no money and no connections, but achieved the American Dream through education. My father became a doctor and surgeon, the chief at a New York hospital, and the Consul General for the Philippines in Florida. My father’s life story formed the basis for my foundation in the American dream, the land of opportunity, and the greatest country in the world, and how education is the driver of socioeconomic mobility.

Because education was a value system in our home, I earned a BS/JD/MBA at 26 years old. My family was highly active in our community and helped people in need for as long as I can remember. As such, I became a lawyer because I wanted to help people, particularly the underdog, and my public service career has been longer than my professional one. I believe I can help more people by serving as the City’s next Commissioner.

You clearly love Delray Beach — what is it about this City that makes it so special to you?
We love Delray! We love our beaches, our neighborhoods, our small businesses, our entertainment, our parks, our arts/culture scene, our events, and our people (and even our pets!). Delray Beach has a rare character. It’s not just a place on a map—it’s a community with history, values, and a way of life that other people come here to enjoy. All of that combined results in a sense of community we haven’t felt anywhere else. You feel like you belong to the Delray community.

Every candidate has a few big priorities that drive them. What are the top issues you’re most passionate about tackling if you’re elected?
Living in Delray is expensive, so my priority is reducing costs through government efficiency, diversified funding, and housing diversity.

Quality education is not affordable; I will focus on early learning, diverse options, and public school improvements.

City Hall can be challenging: make it customer-service oriented by streamlining processes, improving service, increasing transparency, and holding it accountable—efficiency saves money and builds trust.

A safe city thrives: keep neighborhoods safe.

Protect Delray’s charm through arts, culture, historic preservation, and small-business support.

Delray is known for its charm and energy, but also faces constant change. How do you think the City can grow and move forward while still holding onto what makes it unique?
To preserve Delray’s charm and energy, progress and preservation should go hand in hand. Economic development must respect our neighborhoods. Our downtown has a height limit, our residents value small businesses, and arts/culture/historic preservation are woven into the fabric of Delray.

If you could make one meaningful change or launch one project for residents that improves day-to-day life, what would it be?
Find a parking solution for all.

What’s something about you most people wouldn’t guess — maybe a hidden talent or a hobby you love?
I skydived with the Army’s Golden Knights.

We hear you’re a big Harry Potter fan — so we have to ask! If you were at Hogwarts, which House do you think you’d belong to, and which Potter character do you relate to most? What about them speaks to you?
I would belong to the House of Hufflepuff because they value hard work and loyalty. They are characterized as trustworthy and the voice of reason. I identify most with Hermione. I’m a nerd and am constantly trying to keep others on the right track! I think you, Tracy, are a Ravenclaw. Ravenclaws are overachievers, bold in fashion, and are problem solvers.

Editor’s Note: After extensive research into Potter World, Editor at Large Tracy Caruso believes she would belong to the House of Gryffindor. Keiser’s Ravenclaw assessment is making her rethink all of her life choices. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section of this article.

When you think about Delray Beach a few years down the road, how do you hope people will describe it — and what kind of mark would you like to leave as part of that story?
Delray Beach has a family-friendly environment where generations can continue to preserve the beauty, charm, and sense of community that Delray embodies. I want people to see it as a world-class destination for entertainment, arts, music, and culture. I hope that historians describe my leadership as an era when our Village united to improve our quality of life and education, to manage our success for the next generation, and to restore true public service.
