One of the significant differences between conservatives and progressives is that progressives think they can legislate away evil, while conservatives know that’s impossible.
Man is capable of great evil; true evil doesn’t go away because we wish it away or pass more laws.
We can temporarily defeat evil by using “just wars” and the justice system, but even keeping it at bay requires the use of force by the good.
Man is not perfect, and we never will be.
